I am trying to find out things that I need to check for when a vehicle has been caught in a flood. I also am trying to find out how to repair possible problems or what type of damage to look for.

AVOID at all costs cars damaged by flood waters, for the cost and headaches are monumental.
In addition, if the car was caught in a flood in which there was sewage involved, biologicals in the waste water contaminate the car and all of its surfaces, and anyone driving one or repairing one runs the risk of sepsis infections, which can be fatal if not immediately treated.

Be VERY Careful, and Good Luck
