I am originally from MN and now living in NV for the winter. I plan on being in each state about half of the year. Here's my dilemma:
- I have an MN license
- I have a 2002 Audi already registered (and insured) in MN. This car is currently with me in NV.
- I am buying a 2006 Aston Martin DB9 from a Las Vegas dealership.
Now, I obviously need to have my driver's license match the registration of my vehicle. Both cars will be garaged in NV most of the time, and only one will come back to MN with me each year.
Also, NV sales tax is 7.75% and MN is 6.5%. If I register the Aston Martin in MN I'd be saving about $1500 in sales tax. It would also cost me about $2000 more per year in other fees to register it in NV than MN.
Am I covered if I register both in MN, keep my MN driver's license, and have a claim in Nevada?
