You don't need to file a pd report unless someone is injured or you feel that there might be a dispute in liability. Geico will honor her claim if you admit that you were at fault for the accident. They will contact you if she already filed a claim with them. They do need to get your version of the accident before they can accept liability. Also the damage to other other parties vehicle is paid under liability, so you will not pay anything out of pocket. Collision coverage applies to your vehicle only.

1.The police frequently do not write reports for a parking lot accident. A police report is a good thing to have. However, not having one does not mean that the person can not present the claim. If you caused damage to someone else's property - not getting a police report does not get you off the hook.

2. If you have the other driver's information - go ahead and report the claim to them. The adjuster will need to confirm what happened with your wife and with the other driver as well. Then they will work with the other driver to get her damage taken care of.

3. Collision pays for damage to your car. If you did not have collision coverage at the time of the loss - then your insurance company will not be able to pay for your damage.

Liability coverage pays for the damage to the other person's car. Liability coverage is required by the state. This is the coverage that will pay for the ladies car.

Yes, Geico will honor her claim, and contact your insurance company for compensation, which has nothing to do with collision, collision covers your own car when you have an at fault claim, for example run into a tree. Your insurance will contact your wife and ask her if she did, indeed, hit a car while parking. Since she did, hopefully she will say yes, and your insurance will pay the other party for the damages.

You don't need to call anyway, except perhaps your own insurance agent to inform him of the damage she did.

1. You usually only have to file a police report if someone is injured OR if the damage is more than $500 or $1000 (depending on the state)
2. A claims adjuster will usually figure out how the claim is to be paid
3. Collision would cover YOUR car ... not theirs. Liability (which is what you're required to have) will cover their vehicle. If it's just a little scratch, see how much the damage is before reporting ... as reporting MAY make your rates go up.

if i understand you correctly the woman your wife hit is calling her company to file a claim? you should be calling your insurance company to file the claim. is it YOU that has Geico? If Geico is YOUR company they will take the info from her and contact you about the claim. Yes, they should honor it, and YES you should be calling to report the claim. You don't need collision for HER car to be fixed. Thats what liability insurance is for, the OTHER autos you may hit. Collision is to have YOUR auto covered. If you have not talked to your insurance company yet, do so now.

1- A police report is not necessary in this case.
2- You should call your own insurance company to report the claim. Then your company can talk to her company.
3- This will be covered under liability. You should not have a deductible.
Collision coverage is for your own vehicle, not someone else's.

Since there is no police report it will be your word against hers when it comes to the insurance company paying out a claim.
The liability part of your insurance will cover the damage to her car.
