i am 17 years old,i have a drivers license but no car
if i drive my fathers car do i need insurance ?

This depends. I would have my father call his insurance company and have you listed as a driver so that you know you are covered without a doubt. Most insurance compaines require that anyone 18 or younger be listed to be covered.

Insurance goes with cars, not with drivers. So you need to added to his policy as a secondary driver, which will cover you while driving his car.

You need to be added as a driver on his insurance. You don't need your own.
