I was backed into in a parking lot a couple of weeks ago. The other driver admitted total fault-so far, so good. Anyway, her insurance company is going to send me a list of body shops to get an estimate. I already got one on my own from a highly reputable, certified body shop ($1,000). The claims adjuster today told me that they're only going to allow me $25/day for a rental car (I'm driving a full size car), which seems nuts to me. However, upon looking at the IL Division of Insurance website, it looks like I'm going to be victimized by the other driver's lousy insurance. If I'm reading this right, I have to accept the estimate that I'm given because that's all the other insurance company is going to pay. Also, I'm stuck with the $25/day rental rate, so long as the insurance company (American Service) can come up with a company who can rent me a car for that amount.

Do I have any options here, or am I going to pay the price for the other driver's low-end insurance?

I rear-ended someone and they weren't sure there was any real damage to their car (just a few small scratches). There was more damage to my car, but I only had liability for my car, so I have no reason to call my insurance company for that. And at the time of the accident the people I hit said they weren't sure they were going to have to notify my insurance or not since there didn’t seem to be any real damage to their car. Will I be in trouble with my insurance company if the person I hit contacts them to make a claim and I haven’t called them to report the accident? I can’t imagine I would, but then I don’t want my rates to go up on an accident that my insurance company may never find out about. Can anyone offer me any help?

say you were in a car accident, is it true that the preson who hits the other car has to pay regaurdless of if they were the cause of it?
for ex: you are making a left turn and a car is coming towards you and hits you beacuse you couldn't finish the turn in time. would he have to pay beacuse he hit you, even though it was your fault?

I purchased a Ford Extended Warranty when I bought my car new.

My car was stolen, and I was upside down on the loan, but I have gap insurance. the gap will reimburse the lien holder for any moneys owed.

BUT.. I did cancel my extended warranty through ford, and when you do that they pro-rated and return a certain amount back.

My question is: Who gets the money from the cancelled extended warranty? Me, or the Lien Holder, or the Gap Insurance Company?

I sold a car to a Motor Trader in February of last year. He paid me cash and I was happy with the deal. He said he woul deal with the paperwork and I gave him the V5. The tax on the vehicle ran out last September and I was notified that I needed to apply for SORN or retax it. I took the notice to the dealer who said he would sort it. Today I received another notice saying the penalty had still not been paid. I understand clearly that I am liable for this penalty until the car is transferred to someone elses name so I went to check with the dealer again. He was immediately abusive with me and I was quite shocked - though he said he would deal with it.

My question is why would a dealer buy a car - he said he was going to sell it on to another dealer - and then not register it for almost a year? (I have just found out that it was MOTed last week and DVLA now have a record of the transfer)..Am I right to be suspicious or have motor traders found a new way to get cars to increase value?

I am going to Kentucky after a car I just bought later this week and am not sure as to how I can get a temporary tag to get it home to NC. I looked online and couldn't find anything. Will I have to go to the court house or the DMV? It is so different here in NC. THANKS!!

I have always had one of the majors, but a friend has Countrywide? Is there a disadvantage going with a "cheaper" company? I told her a major company might be able to get her cheaper rates than Countrywide? She is female, 23, no accidents - currently a Jeep Grand Cherokee, but looking into a Mazda 3.

It has been over 3 weeks and his insurance company is still "investigating"
They told me I could be charged with storage fees and an abondonment fee for the place THEY had it towed.
