Today I received a traffic ticket for tailgating, which by the way is dumb. Anyways I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to get a lawyer.

Approx. how much percentage wise does insurance get raised?

Your insurance company will most likely factor many things: your age, previous traffic ticket history, make & model of your car, etc.

It is probably a good idea to simply take Defensive Driving so the ticket doesn't go in your record. Additionally, your insurance company may actually give you a discount for completing the course.

Usually it goes up $50-100 dollars a month.

And a ticket for tailgating is a WAKE UP call, not something for you to dismiss.
If you rear end somebody and they SUE YOU for more than your insurance coverage you will find out what a PITA tailgating can really be.
