anyone heard of silencer pads for the backing plates? There is a Ford TSB #15-10-5 on it, but my Ford dealer can't find the part # for them. It seems that you glue some sort of material to your backing plates to stop the noise, The dealer told me to get all new Ford shoes for $116.00. Any other tricks that my work?

Anyways I hit a curb very hard and managed to bend my lower control arm on the passenger side. Incredibly idiotic, I know. Anyways, im currently trying to replace the control arm, but ive run into a bit of a dillema. I noticed that the openings the bushings go into stretched out (up and down wise) as the control arm was forced to bend downward.

I was wondering if it would be still possible to replace the control arm, or if there was some way to straiten out the inlets. Thanks in advance, below is a diagram explanation of my problem. Am I royally screwed or can i salvage this?

An old friend did this. I just remembered and and was wondering if it's true. If it is, how does it make you get better gas mileage? Or even drive better?

With an SUVs higher center of gravity this is often enough to cause a rollover.
The last thing you want when in an SUV is to be involved in a rollover because their roofs are generally not as strong as car roofs. Roof crush is not good for your neck & spine. Drive safely. The standards for roof crush are low & car industry lobbying against improvements is a scandal.

I've changed everything.... Cat, distributor, wires, plugs, Coil, carburetor, filters. It goes for a half mile, then starts to lose power and shake. Pull over, wait a few seconds, then it accelerates like normal until it starts it all over again. I' ve changed everything... cat, filters, coil, wires, distributor, carburetor,... nothing changes. I squirt gas into the carb when on the road, makes no difference. '84 Dodge van.
I've put in a points distributor and wired it direct to the battery. No difference. The fuel pump puts out impressive pressure and volume. It squirts real well. I've shut the engine and pulled over and pulled the top of the carb and the fuel level is right up where it should be. Changed the float needle valve.
I've always been able to fix my mechanical problems.... not this one....

by rebuilt i mean after changing the stock internals for boosting it. some people say in the long run do the swap is better but some people say the ka24 is better. i know the sr20 is the silvia engine and the ka24 is a truck engine. i know the ka is stronger than the sr20. which would require the most work in the end and which would give me a better 1/4 mile time after working on it more

I have a work truck I recently got - great deal it was well maintained, however I noticed this quirk(?):
1998 4wd Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Pick-Up truck, Work truck, V-6 no options except ABS and airbags. When I turn the heater on the A/C compressor engages, and operates. The air is warm, no temp problem... this surely hurts my gas millage, and it just doesn't need to be on to me.

The dealership said that it is supposed to do that - they also lied to me about something else being a $300 repair when it was a $2 part, I just asked to see if they were truthful, so I don't trust their judgment. I think a switch is broken somewhere.

im moving back to CA for school next month, my car started having problems yesterday and i dont think its a small problem. i was gonna take my car back with me but now im thinking about selling it cuz if it is a major problem with the car then that will take away from the money i need to drive there(i live in DFW) and that will be a major block in the road right now, but if i sell the car i can just ride the bus over there and have an extra several hundred but the school is 30 min from fresno and 3hrs from LA where my other family/friends are and there isnt much to do in the area of the school. should i keep it and find transportation to get to around. i want to make a trip to LA at least once or twice a month..if i dont have a car i could just ride the greyhound and stay with one of my relatives for the weekend and ride back...what do u think?should i keep it or sell it? people will still buy it even if there is a problem but just for 400-500$ less
