Basically, my friend and I were blowing up ant hills near my parents' car. We were using M80s, which probably wasn't the best idea. Anyway, the ants are dead, but so is the windshield of my parents' car. We tried using clear duct tape, but the problem we discovered cannot be solved so easily. Luckily, they don't use that car much, so they probably won't notice the damage for a couple of days. Any suggestions?

Hey. 1982 Yamaha Virago 750cc. I recently rebuilt and cleaned the carbs and flushed the fuel system. Now it either idles really high, like 2500 rpms, or it bogs at 500 and dies. Nothing in between. When I hit the throttle, same problem, either no power at all, or it gets stuck at the top of the twist and screams at 5 or 6000 rpm (making a ton of noise).

My current thoughts are - 1 re-clean the carbs, and lubricate the throttle lever. 2 - remove old throttle cable and replace with new, lubricated cable and adjust the limits. 3 - adjust the return spring on the throttle lever.

Your thoughts?

My power steering has gone out on my drive home and I cannot seem to find where to check this level. It is not listed in the manual nor is there a cap easily displayed under the hood. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated.

I have a 2006 Audi A4 quattro. I took the car to the dealership and they want me to change the rotors, as well. I only have 27000 miles on the car. Do the rotors have to be changed. The dealer does not resurface the rotors so they would rather change them out altogether. The dealer wants $760 for front brakes, front rotors, and changing the rear pads only. Is that too much, and should I get an estimate from a private shop, like firestone?

What is the term for when you are driving fast, like on a highway, then come off onto local roads and perceive your speed as being slower than it actually is? Meaning, you were going 50 and come off to where the speed limit is 30. You are still doing 50, but because your perception is out of whack, you think you are driving 30. I know there is a word for this condition and it is driving me nuts!

I recently went to Firestone to get my front break pads and rotors replaced.. $250! They said that they were 75%-90% worn. The next day, I'm driving to and from work.. and they feel EXACTLY the same! I felt no difference when I had to break. I took it back over to Firestone and they claim that something was loose, they "fixed" it, but I still feel no difference. Does anyone know of anyone who will give me a second opinion - free break inspection?

The problem: This ATV would not even click or turnouver. I have installed a new starter relay and new battery, however each time the negative lead is touched to the battery terminal the engine now wants to start even when the ignition switch is off and the kill switch is off. What could be another source of the problem?

NADA says it should be at least $60,000, but the seller is expecting less that $20,000. Something is obviously wrong, but I just don't see it. Any ideas?

Note: I have absolutely no intention of buying this car. I just like to window shop.

I'm looking for some inexpensive items I can throw in the back of my 01, z71 silverado (with a tonneau cover) for snow and ice conditions. I do a lot of driving, and live in the northeast, and wanna make my truck "Winter/stuck proof" so If it happens I can get out of being stuck by myself, or if I need to help somebody else get unstuck of the snow and ice, I will be able to. I Currently have 5-60lb bags of sand sitting right over my rear axle in the bed of the truck along with a gallon of salt (ice melter) and a shovel. I was thinking about getting a 5 gallon bucket. then throwing my tow strap with hooks(currently own), a 4 ton come-along(the ratchet, cable style) and possibly a snatch block in the bucket. Any other suggestion to put back there, or not put back there? I'm always seeing people stuck on slight inclines with ice and snow or even in snow banks when we get a big storm. Who knows maybe I could put my services on craigslist for some extra cash. Thanks, hope someone can help

We're doing an engine swap on a 90 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The original motor was a 1.8 liter. Rated at 92hp. It has blown rings, The donor engine is out of a Misu Precis, a 4g15, a 1.5 with 8 valves, rated at 87 HP. ------Would it bolt right up to the eclipse's Automatic transmission?------ I heard the electronics cross over fine. And that 4gXX motors should, but I don't know for sure.

Not looking to get flamed for doing a smaller engine swap! I happen to have a good engine laying around and a can needing one. Who knows... maybe I will get better mileage. It is only a 5 HP loss.

The person I bought it from signed the title over to me but I have yet to go get it registered under my name.

Can I sell the car and let the buyer register the title under his name? (It's a clean title)

Dear Sir/Mam
My query is as follows
I bought a 1990 model GMC Jimmy 4X4 about a month and a half back. But could not get it registerd within the stipulated 30 days time. Now I dont want to keep the car as its old and keeps giving me trouble. If I want to junk this car, is it still neccsaary for me to register the car in my name and get a tag? I have the owners signed certifacte of title (transfer). The car is insured till March and has an emmission test valid till Dec 26. Please advise.
Regards
Sameer Ahmed

A business meeting in the city went on too late last night and it turned out I'd missed my bus. On checking at the terminus I was told I could still reach my destination if I caught the other bus.

What would you have done?
