I'm looking for some inexpensive items I can throw in the back of my 01, z71 silverado (with a tonneau cover) for snow and ice conditions. I do a lot of driving, and live in the northeast, and wanna make my truck "Winter/stuck proof" so If it happens I can get out of being stuck by myself, or if I need to help somebody else get unstuck of the snow and ice, I will be able to. I Currently have 5-60lb bags of sand sitting right over my rear axle in the bed of the truck along with a gallon of salt (ice melter) and a shovel. I was thinking about getting a 5 gallon bucket. then throwing my tow strap with hooks(currently own), a 4 ton come-along(the ratchet, cable style) and possibly a snatch block in the bucket. Any other suggestion to put back there, or not put back there? I'm always seeing people stuck on slight inclines with ice and snow or even in snow banks when we get a big storm. Who knows maybe I could put my services on craigslist for some extra cash. Thanks, hope someone can help
