The problem: This ATV would not even click or turnouver. I have installed a new starter relay and new battery, however each time the negative lead is touched to the battery terminal the engine now wants to start even when the ignition switch is off and the kill switch is off. What could be another source of the problem?

I don't understand what is meant by the solenoid being round the the wrong way or stuck in the on position. Does polarity matter on the connections to the solenoid? I have been told it does not matter which terminal you use.

Have you removed the terminals from the components as it sounds like you've got the solenoid round the wrong way?
It sounds like you are constantly energising the solenoid coil and engaging the starter.. Check your wiring

To check the solenoid - unplug it from the wire harness.
If the starter still cranks, the solenoid is stuck in the "on" position.

Sounds like a shorted wire or starter component.
