Basically, my friend and I were blowing up ant hills near my parents' car. We were using M80s, which probably wasn't the best idea. Anyway, the ants are dead, but so is the windshield of my parents' car. We tried using clear duct tape, but the problem we discovered cannot be solved so easily. Luckily, they don't use that car much, so they probably won't notice the damage for a couple of days. Any suggestions?

Telling the parents is out of the option at this point. too much time has elapsed. I like the on site repair person idea though. Any other ideas are good though...I like to keep my options opened.

I am all about telling the parents, but perhaps you should tell them that you broke it (not HOW you did it) AFTER you repair the windshield.

There are a number of glass shops that do on site repairs, and in a matter of an hour or so, they move the registration stickers and the whole nine yards. Call them, get an estimate, get it done THEN tell them that you accidentally broke it, but you also had it repaired.

I too, have used the occassional firework to torture ants, though I NEVER destroyed a windshield in the process....:)

Here's what I would do. Call a repair guy and get an estimate, and see if you can pre-pay for the new windshield, almost like a gift card. Then tell your parents you accidentally broke the windshield by dropping something on it or hitting it with a football while playing around with your friends. This way, at least you admit that you broke it and your parents will appreciate that you are going to get it fixed. They really don't need to know exaclty how you broke it. You should feel good also that you are fixing it and not trying to pretend like you don't know anything about it.

Be honest and tell your parents. Otherwise you are risking their safety.
