We're doing an engine swap on a 90 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The original motor was a 1.8 liter. Rated at 92hp. It has blown rings, The donor engine is out of a Misu Precis, a 4g15, a 1.5 with 8 valves, rated at 87 HP. ------Would it bolt right up to the eclipse's Automatic transmission?------ I heard the electronics cross over fine. And that 4gXX motors should, but I don't know for sure.

Not looking to get flamed for doing a smaller engine swap! I happen to have a good engine laying around and a can needing one. Who knows... maybe I will get better mileage. It is only a 5 HP loss.

Any 4-cylinder mitsubishi engine will bolt onto any 4-cylinder transmission. What you had in the car is a 4G37 and you're wanting to swap to a 4G15.

I'd say to just put in a 4G63 and be done with it. the 4G63 is a hearty engine, while the 4G15 is an eco-box (made cheaply) one.

The 1.5L SOHC 4g15 shall bolt-on completely onto the stock 1.8 mounting holes and tranny configuration. ECU and wiring is just as good!

good luck
