I own a 1994 (M) Ford Escort 1.3, it is a lovely economical little car ideal for getting me to work and back. But of late it is making a noise which is not disrupting the drive quality of the vehicle. When the engine warms up, so drive it for 15 minutes sort of things, a tinny grinding comes from underneath the front of the car area, squealing sort of noise when you pull away, say from stationary or when you drop down a gear to slow down and then apply pressure to the accelerator again. Also when the vehicle gets hot it will make this noise constantly when standing still in neutral basically sounds like a Kitten with a sore throat screaming trapped under the car. It is not an over-heating problem, hence Head Gasket ive checked that, despite having done 117,000 miles the clutch is fine, and in neutral it still makes the noise so it cant be the clutch or gearbox. Someone has told me the Water Pump being broken or on the way out is a big possibility. Any ideas? Any help appreciated.
