Scrap Steel is going for $50 to $100 per ton depending on contaminants. If your car still has a good Catalytic converter you should see if you could sell it separately for and extra $100. That is for cars that are not running and wrecked or unfix-able for the amount that would have to be spent.

Giving it to a charity might be a better deal as you could use the Blue book value for a tax write off. If you have enough write offs to be worth it.

Good Luck.

Scrapyards and auto junkyards don't go by a vehicles make / model / etc. They go by the current value of certain metals weight. One answer i think was close - about $100. Heres the trick - what somebody said about yanking the catylitic (sp?) converter is correct. Also i would pull off any copper and aluminum , etc. all THAT stuff is worth another and separate value. In other words , if you sell a scrap car for $100 , that's what they will give you for the total weight - THEN they will remove the converter and whatever else they can get and sell THAT stuff separately , so you may as well get the $ yourself really.
