hey, I live in PA and my dad is looking for a house. theres one right across the street from my grandma and he helps take care of her so it would be perfect if he could get that house but he would never buy it because its all run down. Are there government grants or programs available to remodel homes like this?

actually, this question is really for a friend - but suppose she owns the property via quit claim, and the seller had financed the original purchase via mortgage, and continues to get equity loans and refinancing on the property through the mortgage company - does this allow him any rights re: the property - my friend wants to sell the property to her daughter - what rights does this first seller, who obtained financing and is still listed on the mortgage company records, have with respect to preventing the sale or getting money back after said sale?

I was lucky enought not to have a mortgage, but was curious about those that do.

Makes me wonder if Gorden Brown's past preaching was right, when he was pushing the idea of fixed rate mortgages...

Hi All, can I have your advise please.

I have a flat which I bought in November 06 which I spend no time in as i stay at boyfriends. My mortgage payment is £535.00/month on a repayment mortgage of approx 89k.

I can get a three year no void deal which will service the interest but not all of the capital so would cost me approx £100.00 month. My mortgage company says I can keep current deal.

I bought it for 100k and they are now selling for 120k but I would have to pay £1500.00 in redemption fees to mortage company on top on solicitors and estage agent fees.

What does everyone think I should do, rent it out for a long term investment or sell and put money on deposit in bank.

Thanks

Nice 2 bed house, has been on the market for a couple of months. Asking price £189,950. Bit pricey, but nice house.

I put in an offer for £178,000. Owner called back in 2hrs - seems happy to negotiate, but said they'd like to get £185,000.

In the world of house price negotiation, is this a reasonable agreement? Should I offer a bit lower and how much lower?

Cheers!

So I am in college in California. I am living with 7 of my friends that i lived in the dorms with last year. yea 7 is alot of people to live with, but its a 7 bedroom house and its cheap to live like that. our landlord owns like 100 houses so he doesnt really care about them individually. We have payed two months rent so far to a website he makes us pay at. and now he said its mandatory for us to all pay from the same bank account in one big check, no one wants to use their bank account to pay cause no one wants to go hunt down the other tennants to make them pay, this is a disaster. what are our options? I do not know the other tennants well enough to trust that they will pay on-time and we are going to have a late fee every month now. currently all the renters pay seperate, cause we are all on the lease to pay the individual rent for our room. the late fee is $100 if you pay late. if this is too confusing please ask questions. I can provide more info. Thanks!

My landlord and I are in a dispute. He agreed to have me pay him an extra 50 bucks a month to catch up on the past due balance. However, today he insulted my wife and said that we had to pay him 2 rents by the end of the month, or get out. I understand that he is frustrated, but I am trying to rectify the situation, but this is unacceptable to him. What are my rights? He threatned to have my wages garnished. I live in Pennsylvania

How long does one need to be employed for at a company before obtaining a loan from a bank to buy a house? I'm 23 and for the past 3 years I have been working online, but I am technically not an employee, but I do have the tax forms from past years to prove I made a sufficient income. I am going to get a "real job" once school is over.

Hello! I'm a first time home buyer. I just went through a home inspection and walked through with the inspector. We found a few major things and I have some questions about that.

Well, we found that these people don't have a carbon monoxide detector and their smoke alarm is kind of messed up.

Also-the furnace doesn't light automatically. The sellers have had to manually light it with a match when they want to use it.

Finally, the garage door closes and opens well, but sometimes has a minor pausing problem.

I know that not every home is perfect, but I love this place and I'm afraid that the sellers won't agree to fix anything or give me a credit for anything and then this stuff to fix will cost so much that I wont' be able to afford it, or worse, my wife will turned off by this home!

From your experience, do the sellers normally pay for these fixes. These sellers are stubborn so it worries me!

I'd talk to my attorney but he takes a while to call back!

Thanks!
