I just found out the owner on the house I am trying to purchase still owes for 2006 taxes. He said he took out a loan to pay the taxes but that sounds like he will have a lien on the property. I am hesitant on trying to close on the house as I think that the debt will somehow fall on me. How do I make sure that I am not responsible for these taxes? Is there a way. This is in Texas.

I put an offer down on a house 2 weeks ago. It took the seller over 2 weeks to give me a counter offer and not only that, he raised the price. My original offer was very reasonable which was 1.5% below his original listed price. What would you do in this instance?? Walk away, counter offer with lower price or counter offer with the original offer? We're in no rush to buy a house...

My husband and I together with my mother-in-law bought a house a year ago. Everything's going smoothly until a couple months ago my mother-in-law informs us that she could no longer afford her share for the house. So we tried re-financing the house in our hope to make our mortgage go lower but it doesn't look good. If we don't get approved for the re-fi, there's no way my husband and i can afford to shoulder the whole amount of our mortgage!!!

Can anyone tell me what our other options are??? We don't want to lose this house as we know that it'll be harder for us to start over again in the future especially living in San Francisco area.

Please help! Thank you!

My purchase and sale agreement for the sale of my home was written improperly. The sale closed on July 25. The buyers agent stipulated close + 2 days (which would have been the 27th) for new owner occupation, but also wrote the occupation date as July 29th. Which date was the legally binding date?

We have an executed contract & now owe the bank money for appraisal & flood certification. The seller can't produce a clear title and we can't close, since they have breached contract can we legally make them pay the bank or is this something we have to pay. Now we are looking for another house & will have to pay for an appraisal & flood certification fee when we close on it.

I have a house in AR, my ex-husband & I bought . He wants me to sign a quitclaim deed over to him. What am I responsible for after that, and should I do that in the first place. What will this do to my credit? Will my name come off the loan after 6 months if payments are made on time?

This whole process is new to me. I've looked into a couple of properties that will be auctioned off in the near future. One of the title reports I ran shows there is a "Due on Sale Clause" attached to the property. There was a notice of default filed by the previous owners who apparently are carrying the current owners. Will the successful bidder responsible for paying the loan in full under this clause?

Buying a house but need to keep the bills as low as possible for the first couple of months.

What's the most important mortgage protection to take out?

Life & critical illness, accident & sickness or unemployment?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Our landlord wants to evict us after we put five grand into the house, and after she signed rental receipts, and a purchase agreement, stating we could live here until the loan went through for two hundred dollars a month. The house has no furnace, leaky roof, old holding tank and mold and mildew in the bathroom ceiling. Holes in the shower. She is asking for 65,000 dollars. Is she crazy? Let me know what we can do. What are our rights? What will a judge say to us?

I realize that agents do not like showing houses that do not have a seller's agent because they end up doing more work than usual, so will a 3.5% buyer's agent commission suffice? Would you be likely to show the house, or to pass it up?
