I don't want to have to talk to the landlord because he is my roomates now ex-girlfriends dad. I don't want any biased information.

Unfortunately, the records of the lease are just held between the landlord and the Leese. There is no way you can get a public record of it, but if you are on the lease you have every right to obtain one! Ask the landlord for a copy, you have to protect yourself and not worry about what he is going to think. You don't have to give an explanation, because you are entitled to it if you are on the lease.

Unless the lease was recorded at the deed registry -- possible but not commonly done for short-term leases -- there is no public record of it. Ask the landlord or roommate for a copy.

Leases are not public record. You have no choice but to speak to the landlord.

The landlord is the only person as far as I know. Maybe you can get a friend to act like they want an apt their and ask questions.
