My mom is helping us buy a house. My roommate will be moving with us as well. I'm going to have a written contract signed by both of us (stating how much he will pay etc), but will I have to report this as an income?

I moved from my hometown to a college town last December. I got into a nice apartment but I found out that I am no longer going to be able to afford going to college at a large university. I also have had an injury to my shoulder that causes me problems in finding or keeping a new job. I have to move home with my mom and have surgery, but I still have 6 months left on my lease. My lease states that I am in an apartment that's cost is cut a little because of my student status, but seeing as how I am no longer going to be a student I have to notify them of this. What are the odds that they will let me out of the lease? I have a roommate but he is not a student, and so he doesn't really qualify to stay in the specified apartment. Any ideas or suggestions?

We verbally agreed to purchase a home for $65,000 which was his asking price, and he agreed as well with witnesses to verify this. Today he calls and said he now wants $105,000 for the house. We have already started to remodel this house because he was someone that we knew and he let us start this before we got to sign the paperwork at the bank. Can we sue him for what we have put into the home ? And can he legally change his mind like this after agreeing to sell it for the original asking price ?

My lease ended 1/31/07 and my landlord advised me that on a voice message that I did excellent job with the clean up of the unit and that I should be receiving all of my security deposit back hopefully with 45 days. Well 45 days has elapsed and I have left several messages on the business # inquiring as to when I will receive my security deposit. This guy has not returned a single call. He had a history of not returning calls while I was a tenant, so I am not too surprised. The last message I left him was informing him that I would have to take legal action to retrieve my funds because he refuses to return my calls and in addition to it being beyond the 45 days turn around for return of deposit. I read somewhere that it is possible to receive up to 3X the amount when the landlord does not comply with deposit return. The property is listed in this guy's name but I found out the company he says he represents is listed under someone else, and he insisted that he is not property owner

My lease will be up on 5/12. I planned on moving on, not renewing the lease, but I just found out I was supposed to give a 60 day notice. I spoke to one of the woman who works for the apartment and she said I was supposed to receive a notice, I never did. So, now I'm being forced to pay for an entire extra month and it won't include my special rate I got before-I'll be paying the market value. I explained to her that I'm paying for my rent with student loans and I won't have enough money to cover the extra rent. What do I do?

I am working with a mortgage company. after pulling my credit scores I've given him all my paper work, (W-2's , paystubs. etc). He told me even though my credit isn't the best he still can get me 100% financed. He told me let me give it to the underwritters and we should get an approval tomorrow. that was yesterday. Today, I still have not received an approval and I am getting a little nervous. How long does an approval takes? some people tell me it takes only 24 hours, some say it takes weeks. What exactly does the underwriter do? (FYI: I did do my research on this company good reputation and I did not have to pay any up-front fees).
