We found the duplex we wanted and signed the lease. Then the landlord realized we had a cat and he did not want to rent that one to anyone with pets. So he showed us a different duplex up the road and we took it. We offered to sign the lease for that one, but he said "no , we'll take care of it." and we have NEVER receieved a lease. So, do we have a lease or not?!

I rented an apartment and broke a lease, now after not quite 90 days the landlord wants the fee for breaking the lease and a ton of money for damages I can't prove I did not do.
I just got a letter in the mail from him. Can he wait this long to try and collect it.

We are looking for information on how to get employment cleaning forclosed properties...We have been advised that real estate companies often hire persons to clean for them, and to haul off everything that was left behind when people either leave in the night or have to vacate the property for some reason. We have experiance, references, and a large box van to work with. Is there some official name for this position ( other than cleaning, of course ) ??? We live in mid-north Indiana, and would appreciate any information we can get from anyone who has either provided this service, or who hires people for these type positions. Thanks !

My boyfriend and Iare trying to rent an apartment. I turned in the application & fee late Tuesday(9/19) afternoon and it is now Thursday(9/21) afternoon and I have not recieved a phone call yet from the apartment manager. She told us she will hold the unit until Friday(9/22) for us. Would it be OK for me to call tomorrow and find out what the status is if I don't hear from her today?
We both have lived in other states. I have never been on a lease, he has documented rental history, I don't. I am also consolidating my credit card debt. Will any of this effect our chances of getting the apartment. She seemed real interested in renting it to us, but I don't know if that was an act or not. What do you think?

I'm recently divorced and my oldest son just moved out. I don't have the money to fix it up, but I want to find someone to Assume my loan. I did start removing wallpaper from the previous owners and I'm painting. But it's a nice size house and I just need to get rid of it. It's just me and my 16 year old and it's too big and I'd rather spend the money I put towards the mortgage on me ane my kids. I just need some help badly and would rather have someone assume it rather than giving it back to the bank. Any suggestions?

What would you do if you had to decide between these different real estate situations and you had a family of 5+? Buy a 10 acre piece of land for $150,000 that's 20 minutes from town, subdivide half of it then build a house to live in on the other half with the profits you made. Buy a 6-7 bedroom duplex in town with a .40 acre piece of land for $175,000- $200,000, live in the upstairs and rent out the downstairs. Buy a 2 bedroom house in town on an acre of land that backs the river for $150,000, then add more bedrooms in the unfinished basement area. Or buy a 3-4 bedroom house on .36 acres for $120,000 that's 15 minutes from town and needs work. These are the different options we have to choose from and we need to decide what to do?

I live in section 8 housing and my building complex is always changing management companies, twice so far, and the new manager was going thru tennant rent history and calls me and says that back in 6/2004 my rent was 8.00 but that I had only made the money order for 3.87. I wasn't workin at the time, now almost three years later, the new manger tells me I owe late fees and the difference from those 8.00. I told her could she please send me a copy of that money order because the one for May and June 2004 were stolen along with my purse back then. She said she doesn't keep copies... If all she has is a print out, how do I know someone before her didn't make a human error and punch in what they thought was 3.87? Am I supposed to pay that money from almost three years ago if she can't provide me with an authentic copy of that money order, and also they don't provide me with a copy of anything when they recieve my rent! They claim my money order receipt is proof, but its not their proof!
