to let his 17.5 year old friend, who is still in high school rent our apartment because I moved back with my mother. The thing is. The lease states that only he and I can inhabit the apartment. In Texas (our state) the lease law is 18. I am currently still paying my share of the rent. Is this legal, or possible? Can I fight/prevent his friend from coming and living in the apartment?

I can't make current mortgage payments, and am trying to sell. But if I can't it will go into foreclosure. If the bank sells the house for LESS than the loan amount, can they make me pay the difference? Can they take the mobile home I also have (that is paid for)?

My aunt passed away last month. She and her husband had no children. When the will was received, my father, her only live next of kin was not mentioned in the will, or his family. My aunt was married to this fellow for about 55 years before he passed last September. The will is dated October 1973. From my understanding he controlled the entire marriage, and everything from his will and hers was left to his side of the family. Can this will be contested. Do I have any legal ground. Note: this will is from Canada.

For example, let's say my mortgage payment is $800 per month. What will happen if I pay $1000 every month? Will my required payment go down each month?

What if it's an interest only mortgage for 10 years and I pay $200 extra every month...will that go toward the principal?

I had a good friend that had a case study home on Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena Passadena. He has passed on. I have looked on the net to find his house, and I did , but only one picture. Is there anywhere I can find this house other than going to the library and trying to find it there in a very expensive book.

I am 25 and married.

We own a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath home that will be paid off in less than a year.

We wanted to do a small remodel and upgrades in the house since is very 80's looking.

We planned to spend $50,000 on improvements.

My mother keeps telling me that I shoud keep the money and plan to use it on a down payment on another house one day.

She said if I kept it for a rental property the tenants might ruin my $50,000 upgrades.

She says I can keep my house now as rental income or I can sell it and buy another home and have a smaller loan.

I always assumed we would live where we do, but we don't have children so maybe we will move one day.

Is it rare someone lives in the same house for decades?

Or do people typical own several different houses in their life?

What do you think?

He moved out and is no longer paying the mortgage on the house. He gave me the grant deed and also P.O.A. over him. What can I do if he doesn't pay? Will his credit just get shot or can they take the house? How can I put the mortgage in my name? It's been almost 3 months now.

Ok, I got a letter of eviciton to leave my home on 8/22, that gave me 10 days from that date for me to do so. I sent the payment today..9/1, by MoneyGram for the one month's payment which is all I owed. Do you think they'll still try to evict me even after receiving the payment? If so, I'm out of almost $500....please help if you have any legal advice for me..in case this happens.....thank you!

I am looking for a two bedroom, preferably in the Capitol Hill area. I've looked all over Craigslist, Washington Post, and the City Paper. Everything is either too expensive, or the competition is too fierce. Does anyone know of any alternative resources, either newspapers or online, where I could find listings for Capitol Hill? Thanks!

Wouldn't it be easier to just put a price on it and sell it for that price? We don't go thru all of that when purchasing cars or anything else. Where did this practice start?
