I usually pay my credit balances in full each month. Even though I pay my balance in full, there is still a balance left on the card from purchases after the closing date that would go on next months billing cycle. Can that lower your score? When I checked my credit report it showed my balances after the closing date on the card that weren't even due yet. Those balances factored into my credit ratio. I usually charge around 500 each month with a credit limit of 1000. I do pay the balance on the bill on time in full and get no finance charges. I heard that if your balance is more than 25% then that can lower your score. Is that at anytime you charge something? or only after you pay your bill and there is a remaining balance? I am confused.

Oxford Managment (out of New York) keeps calling me for a debt that is not mine, but they have my address and phone number. I have sent a certified letter telling them not to contact me, but they still call, even after talking to a supervisor.

Do I have any recourse?

I recently paid off all of my credit cards and thought that I was credit card debt free. However, I have a credit card that I am still accruing a $10 monthly fee, I have called the credit card company and asked if they can remove this but they said no. The only way for this charge to stop accruing is the close out the account. Would closing out this account hurt my FICO score? Should I close this account out?

I just looked at my credit report and I don't like what I saw. I am 23 and I knew that when I was younger (18-20) I was not the most responsible person in the world. I want to buy a house in the next couple of years so I know I need to start trying to repair my credit report. What are good ways to rebuild your credit?

Thanks for your help.

Due to some major past credit issues, and collections, I have recently thought about a Chapter 7 BK. I have gotten my equifax score up by getting negetive items removed, but I still owe them,. And on my TU and EX credit reports, they all still show and my scores are horrible. I have about 10 grand in total debt to file on. Should I just bite the bullet and do a BK?

I got a $100 gift card from Kohls for Christmas and my mother accedentally threw it into the fire. My brother and sister also got them however they still have theirs and my question is, can we void all three? My mom thinks we can but I'm not so sure. Real answers please, not just answers for points.

So my husband and I have a Capital One card that has either 1% or 2% back on all purchases, and then 25% back at the end of the year on your accumulated cash back at that time (in october sometime). We are also living paycheck to paycheck, so when bills are due, I have to wait usually until the last day to pay and then pay online with debit card so I know when the payments will go through, etc. My question is 1) can I just pay all my bills (gas, electric, cable, plus other credit cards-circuit city and menards) and just pay it all off on the due date- 21 of every month? Question 2) how will this effect my credit- my limit is $2500 as of late and my bills equal about $750 for what I would be charging on the card.
Also, I am very good at budgeting, I record all my finances, debts, loans, every penny, through Quicken, so please no "be careful with credit cards..."- all of my other card payments are done on no interest for X amount of time.
Thanks again- and happy early new year!

A close friend of mine had been living w/her b/f for over 1 yr; they decided to purchase a Rent-To-Own couch-under her name. His credit wasn't as good as hers, and signed a written agreement that if they split, he would be held liable with payments-$ owed-on the couch. She's not sure whether she should've put it under her name b/c she's worried in worst case scenario, he stops paying and her credit gets ruined. Is there any way in which she can protect herself?

At this moment we're experiencing to much charges of interest which is almost double of the amount we've purchased. We noticed that the due amount dectated in the statement of account about to be settled only goes to the interest and the pricnipal left the same.

I took out a student loan that was actually a personal loan from a College but wasn’t responsible enough to pay it on time so therefore it went to collections. I doubt this is possible but do you guys have any idea if I could write a letter of “Pay for Delete” to the CA (Immediate Credit Recovery) despite the fact that I already paid?
