My parents did a great job raising me. They taught me so many things, but they failed in one area - teaching me ANYTHING about credit: how it works, how important it is, how to use it instead of fearing it. I started thinking & realized most parents are probably like this. They focus on their kids not doing drugs, teaching them kindness & values, hard work, etc. But do they not understand how incredibly important having good credit will be to their children's future? I think every highschool student should be REQUIRED to take a credit class. Then, in college, I think a credit seminar should be included in any orientation exercises. College is when many young people get themselves into deep debt, not fully understanding the consequences. I remember as a freshman, we would constantly have Visa & Mastercard flyers shoved in our books at the bookstore! What does everyone else think?

I always had a hard time understanding this "Pay For Delete" method. From what I was told many CA don't deal with "Pay For Delete" agreement. I mean once your debt from the CA goes to the Credit Bureau how can the CA possibly have the authority to change a negative account on your record? I always thought the best thing the CA could do is to have it as a "Paid in Full" account. Also is it possible to negotiate a "Paid for Delete" on a Student Loan that went to collections?

I am looking for a Personal Loan in the amount of $10,000.00 USD. I have been scammed in the past by lenders asking me to send money and I learned from this mistake and am not willing to do it again! I am in desperate need but have pretty poor credit. I am behind on bills but if I could just get out of this slump I'm in, I would have no problem paying one loan payment instead of a few payments a month. If anyone can help please answer this question for me! Also I want to advise people not to EVER send money to get a loan. This is a scam and people just like me are being taken ever day by lenders asking to send them money any number of reasons. Western Union is telling people not to do this because you never need to send money to get money. They are just trying to take your money and you can not get it back!

Ok here is the deal. I was served at a place which I rarely visit. I don’t even live there to tell you the truth it was purchased as an investment property. That’s where supposedly the summons was served. Claims someone accepted it but the person they name (by first name) does not even exist also the description is not anyone I know. So I did not know about the judgment until I recently seen my credit report (wow bad), they have completely ruined my credit. I went to the civil court and viewed the documents they sent, and that summons does not have a hearing date. Just says I am being sued and to hire a lawyer and the plaintiffs name & address with some other stuff. I have a hearing to vacate the default judgment. What do you think are my chances of that happening and putting this case on the calendar considering the reasons I have mentioned. Also is it possible to this alone or should I hire an attorney to handle this for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

So, I need to file bankruptcy. I've thought about my situation for a long time now and I've decided that it's what I want to do. I have a few questions though and figured I'd post on here while I did research.
1) What costs are involved?
2) Do you have to have a lawyer and go to court?
3) Can a business refuse to let you file for your account with them? Can they fight it?
4)I don't know who all I owe money to anymore. I tried to do my credit check but it wouldn't work. When I file, will they be able to bring up all of my debts and creditors?
5)How long does the process take?
6) I have one (or more) account that is with a collection agency that just told me that they are going to send it over to legal services in the next few days. What does that mean? Can I file bankruptcy on this? Is there anything you cannot file on?
7)Will this affect my financial aid at school?
8)What experiences have you had or observed post bankruptcy? What happens and in what amount oft ime?

Hello,

I had my bank account restrained by a debt collector erroneously. They went to court and got a judgement against me, and from that point on I lost my account (late September). I contacted my lawyer, and from that point on (early October) he was going back and forth with the collection lawyers. My lawyer went to court this month (December) and got a order to vacate the judgement. Yesterday (12/19) I recieved a letter from my employer stating that the city Marshal is going to garnish my wages within 20 days of the date of the letter. It looks like on 11/12 the debt collectors sent my account for garnishment, which falls between the time my lawyer was in contact (via phone and fax) with the debt lawyers. Were they allowed to do that?

I like their Rewards program, but $500 to start? I'll have to pay my credit card every week.

Also, I don't want to be out on a date, use the card, only to have it rejected.

When will my limit go up?

Hello. I am a college student with no credit history. I want to start establishing my credit history, so I want to apply for a small time credit card, like at Dillard's or Best Buy, or somewhere like that. I have a checking account that I keep in good standing. I rarely use it, because I prefer to use cash.

What is a good way to "guess-stimate" what my starting credit limit will be??

I know that how much money you have in your bank account has something to do with your credit limit, so should I put more money in my account, then apply for a card?

Also, since I am a student with no credit history, is it possible for me to get a credit limit over $100 dollars?? I think that a credit limit of $100 dollars is pretty pointless becasue I can just pay that in cash and not have to worry about all the fees, etc.

I am getting divorced & in my 12 yrs of marriage we ruined my credit with stupid mistakes. My husband had horrible credit when we got married and I had no credit so over the years we destroyed mine. My credit report has everything from write offs and non payments to a repossesion 4 yrs ago. How can I start over and rebuild good credit.

Also,
How long will it take for everything to come off my credit report.

My goal is to be able to buy a home for my children if I can ever get this mess cleaned up.
