I also work in collections. However, they won't stop calling just because you ignore the call. (Too many people who do owe just dodge phone calls) All you need to say is it's a wrong number and they have to remove it.

I have worked in collections before, there is a wed site that all collect company's have. It will list every phone number address along with a lot of other info that anyone person has ever had. If they have no way of contacting the person they are looking for they will go down the list of all the phone numbers. Just wait it out, after about 2 week they will stop calling it. If you pick up the phone when they call it will transfer to a person just tell them wrong number you don't even know the person after doing that 3 or 4 time they will stop calling.

i had that. turned out one of my neighbors was doing fraud on the house.. he got our number, and he gave it as ours.. and then he disappeared. and they would always call daytime and leave messages, while we were at work.. to call back from the collection.. i tried calling them.. but they are closed by the time i would come home. so we just ignored them and they stopped after a while

They may not be after you at all. Some other lieing cheat used false information and possibly randomly picked your phone number. I can bet they won't quit by ignoring them

You can call them back, tell them they have wrong contact information, and if they ask you who you are, don't tell them. Just politely tell them that they are trying to contact this person, and they have the number, please stop calling this number. Do not give them any personal information.
