Hi All. I'm a recent college grad who is fairly new to the workforce and is ready to get rid of her credit card debt!! I was fortunate enought not to borrow much in student loans (a total of about $9,000), however by grad time I owed about 9 thousand in credit card debt. Now I am ready to get rid of this burden. I know that this sounds horrible, but my situation was very different than that of the average student. I am a mother and was raising my daughter the whole time during college. Instead of working full time I focused on my studies and only worked part time. Needless to say this made everything harder but in the end it was worth it. Also, I'm not looking for an overnight solution. It took me six years to accumulate this debt so I know it wont disappera overnight. I'm just looking for the best way to go about it. Please help!

Do they keep dispute history in ones credit file? There has to be a way of them tracking past disputes, right?!?!?!

The card Co. name is Orchard they say that they can help reestablish a good credit rating by offering you a $300 credit limit. Have you ever heard any thing like this before ? Do you think it can work and how long before you see an increase on you score? Thank you

I am looking for a loan on a new home and applied over the phone. The application taker made no mention of a credit card and did not ask if I would be interested in a credit card. I was approved for the loan, but still have not signed or agreed to anything. A couple days later a credit card for this company shows up. I actually had to call and close the account because it was in fact open and did show on my credit report. Is it legal for a company to do this without my consent or knowledge? If not where do I report them? I am pissed

I made some errors with my credit when I was younger. I have been doing great at keeping a good credit history now that I'm more mature and understand the importance of credit (last 3 years). However, my old mistakes are still hunting me. I read somewhere that it can take 7 to 10 years for a bad entry in your credit report to be dropped. Is there a way I can remove those sooner?

I remember hearing once that a debt after a certain amount of years, is moot. Does it depend on the state where the debt occurred or you current state of residence?

I heard that collection agencies that specialize in buying old debts, to try and collect on, HATE for people to know about these laws. Where does one look up information about this? And what exactly does one do to bring it to the attention of the collection people, that you are no longer obligated by law to pay on such an old debt?

I am currently a college student who has managed to rack up about $3000 worth of credit card debt between the ages of 18 and 19. I'm interested in straightening up my credit score but will paying off the bills alone do it? Or are there also other steps I have to take?

Has anyone ever got this message and if so what did you do.

Before you can add this credit card to another account, you must contact the PayPal Credit Card Team at cardproblems@paypal.com. A customer service representative will respond to your request shortly. If you would rather add a different credit card to your PayPal account, you may do so at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

I E-mailed them and they asked me for the last four digits of the credit card and i never got a response and paypal still does not work

I got a walmart credit card recently. It can be used only at Wal-mart, and I can use it to buy things and pay no interest as long as I make the minimum payment. I'm wanting to buy a bike ASAP (gas prices) but the bike I want is 200. I get paid Friday but don't want to pay for it all right away. I have only a 150 limit on my card and was wondering if this would increase it... For example, I buy a DVD player for 130. after tax it'll be close to 140 or 150. Could I buy it with the card then return it the next day and pay my bill with the refund and make no money and lose no money to increase my credit? I'm wanting to buy an LCD tv but don't want to dish out 500 for it.

I had a credit card from a bank in my home country and am now on employment in Middle East. Because of certain financial reasons, I cannot pay the outstanding amount ( the minimum payment too is high). The firm has called and informed that they will go legal if i dont settle by the month end. Paying the amnt is not possible as of now. The last payment made was about 5 months ago. What is the best recourse I shall take in this situation and to what extent can the bank go in getting their outsatnding.

Has anyone ever wrote for them? I have heard you only make on average about 4 bucks for an approved article. Has anyone ever made about 50 bucks or more in a month doing it. I know it is not going to make me rich, I am just looking for some extra cash to make my credit card payments.

I had really bad credit and studied hard, stayed organized, did research and have drastically improved my credit. After, my family asked me for help and advice and I was able to help them significantly too. A few close friends have asked for advice and I offered my expertise to them as well. There are many services that promise a lot, charge a lot and deliver little. I'd be more interested in educating people on how to take the steps I did and improve their own credit. My husband is a soldier in Iraq and when he gets back I know his soldiers will need some help too. Can I start a business doing this, if so what can I legally do and not do and how much should I charge for my time and services. Thanks!

I was in an auto accident in 12/03. My health insurance and auto insurance paid hospital bills, etc. I paid the balance in May, 04. Have not heard one more word even tho I still live at same address and work for same company. Now receive notice from collection agency! Could this be a scam of some type? Wouldn't the hospital try to contact me over the years if I still owed? The bill is only $150.00 but it's the principal of the thing. Do I fight it? Do I have a leg to stand on?

I bought my house last June, so its been just at a year. I would like to borrow money to re-roof my home. Is it too soon to apply for a loan like this. I know I don't have alot of equity in the house yet, but I would like to go ahead and redo the roof now before I have a problem.

My FICO score has dropped 100 points and the credit card debt has risen $5,000-$10,000.... according to the free FICO scores/report that one of my cc companies updates each month. They have never been wrong before for 5+ years.

I recently lost a court case and owe around $10k court costs but it hasn't been finalized yet.... could this be on my credit already????

I've read in several places that one of the major credit score factors is the debt usage ratio. If I increase my credit limit without charging anymore to the card then the ratio will decrease. However, increasing the credit limit just feels like the wrong thing to do. Anyone have any experience/advice here? Thanks so much in advance.

I recieved one it the mail for a past creditcard debt. They want me to appear in person with my tax returns, bank books, deeds, titles, ect. What should I do because it said that failure to appear might be a contempt of court and possible imprisonment and fine. I owed a credit card company about $3,000 dollars over 5 years ago. They recieved a default judgement against me. Does anyone know what will happen if i do not show up with the stuff will it be a criminal charge. Help i do not know what to do. I thought about calling them up and making a payment plan or something. But I think that is a bad idea because i really can' t afford to eat and pay them it will only be a matter of time before i miss the payments or stopy paying
