I'm quite frustrated at the process involved with trying to get a home equity loan. Last week an appraiser did a drive-by appraisal and the value came back just fine. NOW, they're requesting a second appraisal, this time a walk thru.... is this legit? Do I have to submit to this? Is this common?

According to credit report, credit card account was charged off in Nov of 2000. Michigan SOL is 6 yrs so that was up in Nov of 2006. Status details on credit report states scheduled to continue until May of 2007. Caller ID shows actual credit card (Am Expres) company is now calling. Considering this debt has ruined my credit for 6 plus yrs already and it's going to go off my report in a month or so...any advice as to what I legally have to do? I can avoid picking up the phone for a while but that too gets old. Anyone have this problem and how did you deal with it.
Signed..actually not a loser but this is one debt of many (all of which I have paid after losing my job) that is too large to tackle

My student loan interest rate is currently at 16.75%!!! I had no job and very poor credit when I got the loan. Now I have a great job that pays well and have improved my credit greatly. Is there anyway to get a lower interest rate? If so, how?

I'm trying to dispute a collection account on my credit report, I already have a wealth of information on how to do that from previous questions, but the problem is I don't know the account #, and on my credit report it show 24141xxxxx. How do I get this information? This is the last piece of info I need to proceed, or do I need this info. I already know how to contact them. Thanks

This is the first time I have received anything regarding this 12 year old debt. It is not on my credit report and never has been. Also I do not remember making this charge from Fingerhut. It just seem like the collection agencie picked the first name like mine that amtched. Do I owe this debt being so long ago? Also how do I contest this so it does not go on my credit report since I did'nt do the charge?

I was told to either get a small loan with co-signer which I do not have or a gas\store credit card b/c they are easier to get. However I do not want to make a bunch of inquires to see which one I can get with my fico scores only at 597/597/588 . I am thinking of trying Walmart but am unsure if my score will get me in or not.. does anyone know what type of score they are looking for? I am not looking to spend on these cards just use as I need too to establish credit! Which card would you suggest? if any with my scores the way they are!

I have 7 credit cards that are all charged off, and have been for about a year. I am planing on buying a house in 2 years. Some people tell me if I start paying on them it will acctually make my credit score go down. The others tell me pay them off as soon as possible. What are some things I can do to improve my credit score because it is only 418 right now.

I've had a Discover card for about 10 or 15 years. Back then it was one of the few cards I could get. I HATE the company. They are constantly calling me with lame offers and mailing me those dumb checks that I never use.

I'd like to cancel, however, I've read that it can hurt your credit score to cancel cards you've had for a long time. (BTW I got a much more useful Visa card a few years ago.)

So should I cancel?

Thanks!

Back in November I used up my free reports from 2 agencies for a 12-month period because Experian listed an account that wasn't mine, so I requested my report from Equifax to compare. I disputed the account and the company (Sprint) gave me a lot of problems, so I disputed with Experian as well. I just got my report from the third agency (TransUnion) and the account isn't listed, but I want to get another copy of my report from Experian to make sure it came off. I thought I was entitled to another free report since I was in the middle of a dispute, but I can't figure out how to do that (the website keeps telling me I already got my free report for the year). Do I have to call Experian?

I have pulled a credit report and disputed everthing, and its all still on there. Most of the things are to expensive to pay off (would take YEARS). However, some things I could pay off quicker. How does the bad stuff go away without paying on it?
Can it go away this way?

I recently recieved a phone call from a creditor threatening to file a judgement against me and garnish my wages for a charge-off balance that they have doubled since purchasing the account from my original creditor.

There is a catch, recently I had disputed the amount of the debt with experian and they ended up completely removing the creditor from my report.

Now they give me a call and at first I was a little worried, they offered me a settlement of about half the balance then I told them I would call them back. When I called them back they offered a lower balance which I told them I don't know, fax me over something saying that will be paid in full.

When they faxed over the paper it showed the creditors name. I recognized the name and when they called back I told them that they were deleted. They denied ever reporting to experian and that they have not yet reported and I need to settle with them now before they do report.

credit report. I'm going to school now and figured by the time I get out, these will stop being reported, and my credit report will be clean? (I'll have a job that actuallys pays money) 90% of the amount is in fees anyway, so I don't feel bad about it. In the meantime I'm considering opening a secured visa and using that so my recent credit will be good as the old, bad ones fall off.

Is this correct or just hearsay?

Never had a credit card and trying to build credit. Keep getting preapproved credit cards with 19% or 23% APR. Have no idea what I'm looking for, so I ultimately shuck the card into the trash.

Long story short, I have been through several hardships and I have an $11,000 credit card bill. They sent it to collections, and now the collections agent is threatening to sue.

My question is, can they go forward with a lawsuit if I am willing to pay? I have expressed my desire to make things right and pay back the debt I owe. I know I have to be held responsible for my actions...I'm not trying to get away with anything here.

The problem is, they are demanding almost $3000 in order to stop persuing the case against me. I don't have that kind of money and I have no way to get it. I am willing to make small payments ($100 or so) from now on. I can even put this in writing for them if they want.

I tried to look this up online - some places say they can't touch me as long as I am making some kind of payment. Other places say they can do whatever they want if I don't pay the whole $3000.

Can anyone help?

I've never had any credit cards, CCJ's etc., and know that I would probably improve things greatly by getting a credit card, but I don't have time. I need a loan now, so is there ANY way I can get a good credit rating? Even zopa.com, the ebay of loans, denied me, because they couldn't find any credit information. Thanks
