I'm trying to dispute a collection account on my credit report, I already have a wealth of information on how to do that from previous questions, but the problem is I don't know the account #, and on my credit report it show 24141xxxxx. How do I get this information? This is the last piece of info I need to proceed, or do I need this info. I already know how to contact them. Thanks

Do not call the collection agency for anything.

Use the number just like it is reporting on your credit reports, x's and all.

You can call the collection agency and get the original account number. If you have any statements from them, it should also read the account number.
