I have a job and everything and I want to but my dad says the legal age to do that is 18. Is that true, or does he just think I'm irresponsible and is just telling me that to prolong me getting an account?

I am not really sure how it works.. but I am trying to get my boyfriend's credit back in order.. I did the free credit report thing.. and his score is not that bad, it's 607.. but he owes about 5 different agencies and it totals about $4,500.

Within those accounts totaling 4500.. there are 2 collection accounts and 3 delinquent. He has one on there from about 7 years ago also. I am new to this myself.. I'm 20 and learning all the nooks and crannies about credit and I want to know how to he can help out his credit now. THANKS!!

I got three cell phones in my name. Which I gave to family since they all have bad credit. We made a verbal agreement in front of employee/friend that they will pay their bill on time. But they have not paid their bill yet and it is past due.

I'm a 24 year old male. I have two a bad credit history. I have late payments, two repo's, and a bankruptcy. My bankruptcy cleared everything. Now I'm debt free, except for a 16,000 dollar auto loan balance. I was approved for my auto loan right after my bankruptcy was approved. I am making my monthly payments on time. What else do I have to do to boost my credit score, and get back on the right track. I want to buy income properties someday, and will need to have good credit. Any tips?

Right now my credit rating is a little over 800. The only things in my credit history are 2 current credit cards. I am also about to buy a new car and am trying to figure out if it will be better for me in the future (when I am trying to buy a house) if I get an auto loan or if I just pay the car myself.

So if I get the minimum car loan, and just pay it off over 2 years, it will cost me around $478 in interest. So, assuming the fact that for like the next 3 or 4 years my credit rating were to remain the same, which would be better for my credit when I try to get a home loan? Is paying almost $500 now (well, over 2 years) to get an auto loans payments/history in my credit report going to benefit me or not?

If it will get me a lower interest rate on a mortgage I'll be all for it. If it won't make a difference, then I probably wouldn't want to spend the extra $500ish. Anyone happen to know? Thanks!

My bill must have been lost in mail because I never recieved it. I looked at the Washingtion Mutual Site but it gave me some address that doesn't sound like the right one. I don't want to get stuck with some bullshit late fees so if anyone with a WaMu credit card can give me the full address, I would appreciate it greatly.

My husband had a credit card in his own name that i knew nothing about. He addes me as a secondary signor on the actt, also without me knowing. We since were divorced and both responsible for our own debts. He was recently disabled and unable to work and now the credit card company is coming after me for 17K in unpaid balance. It also should be noted that he forged my signature to all these transactions. Can i be in anyway held responsible for this??

I've heard that once you pay off a credit card you shouldn't close the account to keep a good credit score. I've also heard that even though one pays off his credit card reducing the credit limit is also not a good option for keeping a great credit rating. What is the best way to handle this situation if you don't really want the card around to prevent you from running the balance up, but also don't want to hurt your credit rating. Is there any way to find out what exactly affects one's credit score?

Examples: Let's just say a website or book states something like filing for bankruptcy subtracts XXXX amount of points from your credit rating. Defaulting on credit card payments for XXX amount of months subtracts XXX amount of points from your credit rating. Paying off federal student loans adds or subtracts XXXX amount of points from your credit rating. Also is there anywhere that states how long certain things stay on your credit report?

5 yrs ago, a hospital took us to court for an ER bill (daughter broke her leg).we had no insurance but was less than $100 over qualified for medicaid. we had no means to make payments, we have 4 children. anyway, the amount of $1500 was sent as a judgement on our credit report. now, after 5 yrs, we have a chance to clear up some credit, and thought we should take care of this judgement first. ok, if we pay off the hospital, can we ask them to remove the judgment? the amount is 80% of our negative credit. we had always thought that creditors shouldn't use medical against us, but oh, yes, they have! if the judgement is required to stay on for 10 yrs, why should we pay if it will have no effect? and, if anyone is asking, you will get sued in arkansas for unpaid medical bills, even emergencies! why we moved back to texas.

Is there some way I can get a loan for at least $9,000 - $20,000 with bad credit and not being employed? I already know about federal student aid, that is not what I am looking for.
Thanks for your help.
