Please don't worry. debt companies use all tactics to try and bully you int what you can't afford. Make your offer of payment in writing (recorded delivery), send that months payment. if they contact you to say its not acceptable write again including a full breakdown of income and expenditure and explain it is all you can afford. if they still don't accept it advise them o take you to court (but still keep paying amount you can afford). they will accept your offer! trust me! If it goes to court you will end up paying less than you orignally offered anyway so its in their best intrest to take your offer.
I have had similar experiences and i contact The National Debtline (a charity) and they sent me a really useful info pack which explains what to do in situations like this. It might be worth you contacting them for one just so you have the law to hand when dealing with this.
Hope this helps xx

Go straight to the Citizens Advice. Bailiffs are bullies and are not law abiding, don't let them in your house whatever you do. Legally they cannot enter your property to recover goods unless they have been over the threshold before. That's why you leave them on the door step. Bailiffs have a code of conduct that they have to adhere to, by law. If they fail to adhere to this code they are committing an offence. If a council tax bill cannot be claimed the bailiffs will send it back to the council, i suggest writing to your local councillor explaining this, send a copy to your council and write to the local paper. This is unfair, i dont think you should be paying anything at all as the debt isnt even yours!

If you are struggling to pay off debts you could try National Debtline - they are unbiased and offer good sound advice. The bailiffs would have asked you about your in/out finances and decided that was the amount you can afford. Obviously I don't know your circumstances.
They came knocking my doors a few months back for council tax and I ended up paying two thirds of what they asked for as I told them I simply couldn't pay it but that was after I had shown them my incomings and outgoings.

Go to the C.A.B and your Council. If they can not help then contact the County Court which issued the warrent, they will help to sort it out. Do not bother to talk to the bailiffs, they do not care. It is about time bailiffs worked with people in debt , instead of trying to make money out of them.

baliffs are devious sods they tend to make you worry when you dont have to firstly contact the council and make them the same offer if the council agree they can talk to baliffs for you i had one after me they cant take your stuff if it is on hp they cant take what isnt yours they cant break in to your house so keep windows and doors shut they are unpleasant indervidals and have no sole to speak of your best bet is to contact a org like cab

Since I am in the U.S. and can only barely figure out what you are talking about, I assume you're in the U.K. You might try the United Kingdom Yahoo! Answers site instead of this U.S.-specific site. But I'd say that if you genuinely can't pay it, they can't get blood from a stone, they will eventually work something out. Demanding 50 pounds/mo from someone who can't pay it isn't going to get them their debt back. Do they still have debtor's prison over there? ;-)

Go Bankrupt then they won't get a penny. Your partner is NOT responsible for the previous debt. so get reciepts for everything in your house in his name! then they can't remove them.
