OK here's my question.
If I agree to borrow money from a bank ($10,000) and they say it's 20% of interest for a 60-month term. That means after 5 years the money I have to pay is $12,000. But the thing is what happens if I've been paying for 2 years and now I have the rest of the money and want to pay them off. How will they calculate the rest? The total should be $11,000 (the money I've been paying for 2years + the rest = $12,000) or less than $12,000 ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
make it clear
$12,000 / 60 = $200/mo
so for 2 years, I've paid : $200 * 24 = 4800
Now, after 2 years I have the money and want to pay it off, so the rest should be $12,000 - $4800 = $7200 or less than $7200 ???

My parents were in a motorcycle accident, the passenger was covered up to 25,000 (my mother). But the rider is not covered, (my father). He had just switched jobs so no health insurance. This happened Labor Day weekend. They owe about 24,000, and have been paying what they can afford which is 200 a month. The hospital turned it over to collections and they called today and told her she had to pay 300 a month and that would last for a few months and they would review the case and because they have no children at home it would then be upped to 500 for a while and reviewed again, then they would proceed to get a judgement against there home and garnish their wages...Can they really do this??? I thought as long as you were paying regularly and on time that they couldnt????

My parents both passed away in the last 2 years. One of my brothers took it upon himself to use their credit cards and make over $6,000 in purchases. Since finding this information out, I have canceled all of the credit cards, I pulled a copy of their credit report and notified the credit agencies. WHat can happen to my brother, he committed credit card fraud about 12 years ago and just got probation.

I just want to know if it really fixes your credit and that the money you pay them is worth it. I want to make sure there is no fraud involved.

Due to suffering from depression, me and my husband ran up major debts of £30k+ 4-5 years ago. We have made a huge effort to get everything under control and have cleared all our personal debts apart from £5k (plus a £120k mortgage). We still have a bad credit rating and we remortgaged almost 4 years ago with a sub-prime lender. Due to increasing interest rates, we are now paying 9% APR with a mortgage payment of £935 per month on a £120k interest only mortgage. Although we both work full-time, we have 3 children and are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up the repayments. There is currently a redemption penalty of £7k which reduces to £1200 in July 07. Should we remortgage now and pay the £7k or wait till July but struggle till then to make the repayments? I am worried we will go crazy locked into these repayments and be off work with stress before then and be unable to make the mortgage payments and risk losing our house? Please help...!

Short of the obvious,is anyone fimiluar with working with a specific "bad credit" repair company. I have been told they can pretty much wipe your credit clean and find that very hard to believe. I have tax leins and a discharged bankruptcy on my report and was told they can wipe that out.Very doubtful i believe, and dont want to just start throwing money out to these people with no results. Can anyone reccommend the best and safest solution in repairing my history and what actually can be removed?

I have gotten rid of my "proper" credit cards but there are still a few things I'd like to buy online, which you have to have a credit card for, so I was wondering if there were any pre-paid cards you can get?

I am a single woman and my age is 28 years old. My big problem is, now I have to pay a lot of debts which is not mine. 3 years ago, my sister's business almost colaps and to help her I make a personal loan RM 20000, and give all the money to her. I also give two credit cards under my name. Now my sister's business already bankrupted. All credit cards, personal loan I need to pay by myself. I just quit my job and now I am jobless. I can't blame anybody or myself, just to ask anybody who can give me advice or solutions how to settle everything. With this problem, I can't even give RM50 a month to my mom. Pity her...I am the only child who graduate. I feel useless and sometimes I think I should jump from the 21th floor flats. Pls help...

I had some credit card and auto debt from 2001 that I have never paid off (and I don't plan to). I have stopped getting calls and notices in the mail about these debts.

1. Can they still come after me for the balances? If yes, how much time do they have left to collect?

2. When can my credit be restored, or at least used again?

I am in the process of "cleaning" up my credit. I have several negative accounts that should be scheduled for removal this year as per my State's SOL. ( 7 years). My first one will be 7 years old this March. I need help with the steps on how to assure this will be removed from my account.
1. does anyone have a sample letter that will help me with this?
2. Who do I send this letter to?( The creditor or the credit reporting agency)?
3. Will these accounts come off my account automatically or will I HAVE to write these letters? Can someone help me with the steps or share their own personal experience with this matter. Thanks

I have a terrible problem and I either need to file for bankrupcy or get an IVA but the house I will lose is my mothers but is on my name along with my Dads who passed away a couple of weeks ago. My mother knows nothing about my problems and is already severely depressed and thinks debt is Satan and would be devastated if she lost her home as before my Dad died he paid the whole mortgage off to ensure that she would get by.

The receipt had my card number as I made some purchases from Morrisons but I am not sure if it was the full card number on the receipt. Is it possible that the cleaner could find the receipt & make purchases on my card? Need to know what to do!

Hi,
I am 23 with a $30K medical debt that I haven't paid and is now in collection. I received the debt on 03/2003 and haven't paid anything. I would like to know if anyone could give me some advice in this matter? I understand there is something called the "Statute of Limitation". I want to know if I wait 7-10 years for the SoL to be out of date, is the debt going to be cleared from my credit report? If so, is it going to come back one day? Also, is this something I should consider, or should I try for a settlement to reduce the debt? Any help would be highly appreciated! I am so lost and confused! I just want to start all over again. **Note I use to have Medi-Cal since my family is not that well off, but it ended after I reached 18** -thank you

I'm getting mail for someone else with my address. I've received atm cards, a pink slip for a car, replies to job applications, etc. with other people's name and my address. Identity theft is usually the other way around- my name their address.

Has anyone come across this kind of fraud? What are they doing? I tried to report it to the atm bank but they don't seem to care. I'm concerned because this happened before with my previous address and I was subpoenaed by a law firm. Someone used their name and my address and was committing all kinds of fraud using my address.

What can I do? Who should I report this to?

never been late with them, got card 3/06, it says online my checking account "reason to doubt collectibility", I have been a few days late on other credit cards, never 30 days late to ruin credit, other companys sent friendly reminder letters, or called ask when payment was coming. How can they take money only 3 days late? Without permission? OUT of my checking? I make most of my payments online, some through the mail. I had already made a partial payment in Jan. it wasn't due yet, so I only owed about 100.00, the orig. amt. due was 138.00, but yet they took the full 138.00, I saw somebody else asked a question about her sister being late collection calls all the time and she asked if they could take money from her. People said not without her permission, or sueing her, or garnishing wages, Called Bank of Amer. they said that's illeg. and they don't do that. The name of this bank is Universal SavingsBank, they sent letter months back saying Chase bought them, Chasesaysno.Whatdo I do?
