never been late with them, got card 3/06, it says online my checking account "reason to doubt collectibility", I have been a few days late on other credit cards, never 30 days late to ruin credit, other companys sent friendly reminder letters, or called ask when payment was coming. How can they take money only 3 days late? Without permission? OUT of my checking? I make most of my payments online, some through the mail. I had already made a partial payment in Jan. it wasn't due yet, so I only owed about 100.00, the orig. amt. due was 138.00, but yet they took the full 138.00, I saw somebody else asked a question about her sister being late collection calls all the time and she asked if they could take money from her. People said not without her permission, or sueing her, or garnishing wages, Called Bank of Amer. they said that's illeg. and they don't do that. The name of this bank is Universal SavingsBank, they sent letter months back saying Chase bought them, Chasesaysno.Whatdo I do?

I am a bit confused.
You say you have paid late a few times but nothing to affect your credit, yet the note to you says that they took the money because they didnt think you would pay...?
YOu should pull your credit and verify that they have not placed negative stuff on there without you knowing it.
I have had loans defaulted and never heard THAT line!

okay so then you say

you usually owe $138 and this is the amount that you usually pay and that someone mysteriously took out the same amount and you have no idea who did it?

I am using THAT as the base for my reply, assuming that you have read thru your credit card contract and that it does not mention that your credit card company CAN do this according to what you have signed with them
If the aforementioned is true,

and If you dont know who put this charge on your card.

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.
Many victims dont know that hey have rights and they have gotten the following respones from thier banks “we cant do anything for you” or “you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days” etc.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.
Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing by looking at the complaint and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form

The only problem is that if you did authorize this charge By signing something on your credit card app saying you allow them to do this, you will probably get a 'penalty' from the bank and you will be in worse shape then you were before if this investigative fee causes your other checks to bounce.

Have you considered switching /transfering your balance to another card where you will be treated better?

it's called Universal default
here is what happens
you get late on any OTHER credit card ( even theirs, the pull credit reports to see how you are as a payer )
you get classified as a risk
your interest rated shoot up to 29.99%
and the deduct automatically from your account plus new higher interest rate
it a new thing that legal that the big credit cards companies are doing, they get more money and more fees that way
best thing would be to pay of the card 100% and then close out the account
