Okay. Last year was not a good year for me! My husband left me and I lost my job. On top of that my auto finance company has been looking for the car (they have been calling my mother's house and everything!) They don't know where I am. The transmission is not working well on the car and they know it. But I am still able to use the car to search for work and take the kids to school. Well, I got my free credit report and saw that they have a charge off on that account! What does that mean??? Does it mean they are sewing me? Should I still pay the car off or give them the car back? Please help!

I voluntarily turned my car over to creditor, after numerous telephone calls with them. The car was in excellent shape and sold at auction. My credit report showed account closed, charged-off, {and it use to read paid by collateral, but that has since been removed} and was to drop off my report 06-2008, but 12-2006 it was purchased and shows open on my credit report and now i'm being hounded and they have put on my credit report that I owe them over $10,000. If it was previously closed, how can it bought or sold and if so then what happened to the proceeds of the sale of my vehicle? I dont know who bought it as was not present at auction. What do i do? They threaten garnishment of my wages and I truly feel I do not owe the balance of my note as I gave them the car and they sold it. The original creditor shows the account closed.

If my daughter has a balance and very high interest rates can I pay her card with my card or do I have to only balance transfer to my bills? The never ask the name on the account, just the name and account number.

I have recently checked my credit report and I realized I had several credit card accounts which were unused for several years running with a zero balance for some time.

I would like to close them to resolve my accounts and improve my overall credit.

I have to admit that some of the credit companies are quite odd (not cititbank or MBNA) but smaller credit houses from obscure stores I once purchased something to earn the 10% off etc.

How do I go about contacting the credit card companies to close these empty accounts?

I used to work for a bank and they told me that if I ever wanted to buy a house, i should build up my fiance's credit because he had NO credit at all. Well, stupid me got him a $5000 line of credit and a $1000 credit card, and then they raised the limit...he maxed it out..long story short, we are broken up now and he wracked up $13,000 worth of freakin' debt in both of our names! He was paying the minimum for a long time, and then, lo-and-behold, he knocked up his new gf, so now he expects me to pay everything. I have a notorized contract between he and i that confirms that he made all the charges - but he has no assets or property. The contract says i can garnish from his wages, but cant he get around it? im not even sure WHAT kind of lawyer i should go to in the first place, and if i should try to consolidate the loan and pay off as much of it as i can, or if i should save money for a lawyer. I cant even take it to small claims because it's over $5000. PLS HELP!

I have been told that in the State of Texas that a credit card company CANNOT garnish your wages or bank accounts for a unpaid credit card balance. Is this a fact.......................please explain.

I know both are bad on credit, but is the short sale, a teeny bit better, at least? Also, house is not in my name, so my credit won't be affected... we can use mine in the future to buy a house when we are ready.

I wanted to know if someone can use your credit card to purchase things, etc with just the credit card number or do they need the Card Verification number along with the credit card number? I believe someone may have gotten a hold of my credit card number and address and name, but not my Card Verification number. But I wanted to know if you can steal with just that info. I know most places ask for that verification number, though.

I don't receive any of the statements. I don't know where they're being mailed to. It was opened using my SS# and info. I don't even know what company the card is through. Is there any way to get this info from any organization? Thanks.

I had a vehicle with a balloon note, set up like a lease. I turned it in and now they are wanting me to sign a BLANK power of attorney form or they will say it was a voluntary repossession!

The co-borrower filed bankruptcy so they cannot get in touch with her, but the main question is WHY power of attorney and why are they threatening to damage my credit?
