For Checking accounts, bank use a different credit system called chexsystems. This is the company banks send bad checking account info to. have you had any other checking account with another bank
did you have a negitvate balance with another bank? and did
that bank close your account because of that? if so all banks
report to a service called Chex systems -any time you are reported
to them and then Most other banks will NOT open new account
if you are record with Chex system either until you clear the matter
up with the bank or 5 years go by
when the report is automaticly dropped

Banks have the availability to check your credit against outstanding monies that you owe people. So If you owe anybody any money banks will not open an account for you. Maybe you try opening a savings account!

Talk to the bank, but do it nicely. "What can I do to get approved."
If the bank's any good, they'll help.
Also, look at a credit union. You might have luck there.
