In Texas ,Lawsuits by credit card companies against credit card holders are extremely rare, however, when a consumer lawyer intervenes.
Most of the 10,000 credit card companies will not sue the cardholder who has a consumer lawyer who intervenes and notifies and instructs the creditor to deal with the lawyer and not the cardholder.

don't know for sure about texas, you might want to consult an attorney for the correct info. in most states a credit card company can, indeed, file a lawsuit to recover what you owe them. if you get sued, DO NOT ignore it. try working with the court to set up a payment plan that you can handle. if you let the suit go through, the court will send through a garnishment order and your wages will be garnished. the amount taken from your check each pay period can be a big chunk, in some states up to 50% of your before tax wages. if you are in this situation your best bet is to consult an attorney if you can;t negotiate with the credit card company yourself.

In any state, no creditor can garnish your wages without a court order. Unless your have been served a lawsuit, they can't do anything. I don't know if Texas law allows the court to order garnishment for credit card debt.

Depending on what type of credit card it is.. ( unsecured or secured ). if it's an unsecured credit card ( ex: department store card ) then they can not garnish your wages. ( unless you've set up some sort of payment plan with them.
I knwo only a FEW people who have Secured Credit cards. Those are which in your terms you tell them they can have the house, car or all your monies...
