If you are talking about a savings or checking account, there is no problem, simply fill out the form and put your money in the account.
If you are talking about getting a credit card from the bank, that will depend on how old your bankruptcy is. If it is fairly new then the bank may decline. Some banks will offer a very low limit card ($300) to bad credit risks. They will increase the credit limit as time passes and you demonstrate that you are a good risk.

The Co-operative bank will give you a cash account - you can have a debit card and paying in book but no cheque book. Most other banks will not give you an account until your have been discharged.

their flex-account (the one without a debit card) comes with a cash point card, the ability to do direct debits, standing orders, online banking - what more do you want from a bank account.
