I have 4 credit cards. One of them has a $100 dollar balance because I have paid it way down. Discover has a $900 dollar balance and the other 2 have $1400 dollar balances each. I plan on paying the $100 dollar balance card off today, and I make $300 dollar payments on each of them every month. Will it increase my FICO to pay the balance off of 2 of the cards and combine them all on a balance transfer to my Citi Bank card, or will it make my score lower? I want to make a higher score, and have been slowly digging my self out of debt since a bad divorce. Currently, my fico is 218.

Just wondering if anyone out there has used these credit companies for medical financing? And if so, what their experiences have been?

My sister has a mortage for $79,000.00 loan for which she was paying a fixed 7.11% for two years. She was just notified that the new adjustable rate will be 8.63% adjust. (approx. 100.00/month more!). My question is: Should she refinance so that she doesn't pay 100./mo. more? And if it is a good idea to refinance, please explain what the pros and cons of refinancing are, and what she should be looking for. I believe the value of the property is supposed to be $110,000.00 now.
(please tell me what details you might need to better assess the situation so that you can provide resolution options)
Thanks, in advance - She will need to make a decision within the next three or four days - PLEASE HELP!!!!

Also, this I enter this in the correct Yahoo Answers category? (credit)

I deposited $500 on a poker website through an echeck. They gave me the money to play with on their website. About a week later, they say that the echeck has not cleared due to "invalid account number status" (but i had given them the correct name, account number, and routing number!). My bank account was never charged. I lost the money I played with (damn blackjack!). What happens if I do nothing? Will my credit be ruined? I gave them all the right information, they just didn't take money out. Now they want me to fill out one of their forms and fax it with a photocopy of a voided check and my driver's license.

I have to go through all of this hassle just so they will take $500 from my account which I lost on their website. A hassle, right? Oh, my account was deactivated until I fax those forms. I called them and without giving them my name, I asked what could be done if I had enough money to pay off the debt in my account?

I had a credit card, I went through Consumer Credit and paid for a year, I couldn't afford monthly payments so I decided on debt settlement through another program. This credit card was turned over to a collection agency/attorney. I pay debt that is settlled and usually at half of the original amount when I have enough saved. This specific one I do not have the money for up front and the collection company will not settle for the amounts I propose to them through the debt settlement co. They have filed a claim with the National Arbitration Forum. I have to respond within 14 days to the forum with a response to the claim. I immediately signed up with Consumer Credit again, but it takes awhile for them to propose to the original creditor. I may know in about ten days whether the original creditor will reply and accept the proposal and then recall the account from the collection co but I don't know what to do about the response I have to file with National Arbitration Forum.

I came across this ad below and many others like it while searching for credit building techniques. If something like this actually works it would be an invaluable service that could save 10's of thousands of dollars when getting a mortgage. Anyone ever done this before and is it legal?

"WHAT IS A TRADELINE? YOU ARE MADE AN AUTHORIZED USER ON AN ESTABLISHED SEASONED AGED CREDIT CARD TRADELINE WITH APPROX $10-18K IN AVAILABLE CREDIT, WITH THE OWNERS PERMISSION OF COURSE. THE CARDS HAVE AGED SOLID HISTORY OF 36-48 CONSECUTIVE MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WITH NO LATES. THEY ARE PAID IN FULL EVERY MONTH. YOU DON'T ACTUALLY GET THE CARD IN THE MAIL, YOU JUST GET THE PAYMENT HISTORY. EACH TRADELINE WILL ADD AN AVERAGE OF 20-30 POINTS TO YOUR CREDIT SCORE AND IT LOOKS VERY POWERFUL ON YOUR REPORTS."

I know when we get married, my credit will be brought down by his. I was wondering if there is anyway around this? I have a perfect credit score and his is not so great. I think it is pretty shitty that mine will be affected just because we are married. I think it is wrong to bring my pefect score down when I have done nothing wrong. It's like they punish you for getting married. Well anyways, I was wondering if there was anyway to get around this? I know people are gonna say "dont get married..marry someone else...improve his credit score first..." and so on. That's not the kind of answer I am looking for. I will marry him no matter where his credit stands & I don't plan on spending money to pay off the stupid little things that ruined it. ..trust me, if you knew the things that brought down his credit, you wouldnt pay them either! So yeah, is there anything a person can do to get around this so I can keep my high score and he can have his not so great score?

I'm new to the exporting scene and intend to export a natural resource from southern Africa to western countries (preferably the US). There is a lot of political instability in the country I will be exporting from, but nevertheless I have access to the resources and can get things done. The problem is that I currently have insufficient capital and collateral to secure a loan. I am hoping to get advice on how to obtain letters of credit from a company that uses the resources I have access to; like Philip Morris (or jewelry stores - if they actually do this).

I would also appreciate clarification on one last thing. Upon receiving a letter of credit, will my bank issue me working capital to get things done - or will I only get access to the money after the goods are delivered to the company that issued the letter of credit. Thanks..... (hopefully someone will answer)

I let my friend use my credit card to charge something, he said he was going to pay it right back in a couple of days, or he could put the limit right back on my Visa with his Visa. But since I let him use it, I haven't yet heard from him. Is there a way to take action for this? I really need my money back, I trusted this person, but now it shows I probably shouldn't have.

I pulled my credit report from all three bureaus today. On Equifax there is an account listed for a collection agency and all the information it lists is that is in an open account, the high balance, past due amount and that the account is 120 days past due. Then I noticed on all three reports there is an account that was for a credit card I opened in May of 1997. I vaguely remember this but the account is listed as closed and I believe I defaulted on (youthful mistake!). My question is this - how can I find out if the two accounts are related? And how can I determine how long they have been on my report?
