I'm a college student and I don't really have a credit history. I know companies have credit card programs specifically for people like me. Does anyone know who has the best program?

NONE, especially if you don't also have a job. those college cards are just a way to suck big debts out of students. Its safer to use cash whenever possible

Everyone has their own opinions on this, but I personally like Visa Credit Card, as they are accepted almost everywhere. As for who has the best program, that's a tough one to answer. What you really need to do is ask yourself why do I want to use a Credit Card ? The next question Am I going to be responible enough to pay it off each month in full ?
Be very cautious when using the credit cards, as they will give you a false sense of I can buy this or I can buy that - but are you going to pay it off at the end of the month ? If not, you will be paying % rates of 7 - 23% depending upon your credit worthiness ( Credit Bureau Reports)
www.visa.com
See what cards have 0% introductary rates for 12 - 18 months and what are the % rates AFTER the intro period ? Look around - read the fine print BEFORE you sign on the dotted line. Credit Cards are good IF you are DISCIPLINED and pay them off each month, if not they can suck you in and kill you financially.

The "best" program may depend on what you are offered. The preferred account is one that is unsecured, with a reasonable limit, and low interest rates (though you don't want to rack up enough charges to start getting hit with interest). Citibank and Chase are popular ones on campus, and Capital One is more apt than most of the bigs to give credit to those with suspect histories (from a credit perspective). Check with your local bank as well to see if they have some kind of program. Usually, reps will be on campus at different points in the year to push their cards, and you'll likely get offers in the mail. Answering one of these pre-approved offers is usually the easiest way to get a card, but check the terms before you sign.

Assuming you'll pay off your balance every month (and you should), you want the card that pays you the most rewards for using it (and costs you nothing to use).

For most students, that will be either the Citi mtvU card or the Citi Driver's Edge for Students card.

The best rewards card for a person always depends on how much they spend in various categories (since the rewards cards pay different percentages in different categories).

Use the calculator at http://www.creditcardtuneup.com/?card_type=College+Student to see which card will pay you the most in rewards for your spending profile.

I know it's not a regular credit card, but when I had no credit history I couldn't get a credit card, but Macy's issued me one, and I was able to build up a credit history through them, and eventually get a car loan and regular cc's.
