Got a call from a lawyers office that said they were going to bring a civil suit against me for 870$ and that if I settle out of court it would be cheaper because they wont charge an additional 800$ filing fee. Is this legitamate or a bill collectors trick? This account is over 4 years old.

Okay, so I have bad credit. That was six years and 3 months since my last payment to two credit cards. Both accounts have been bought and sold many many times over the past years, but now because the seven years is almost up they are calling me day and night, leaving messages on any phone they cen. They even got my cell phone number that I use for emergecies from somewhere (not from me). One agency after much debate finally told me that they will turn it over to the IRS with some 1099C and let them handle it. Then they called me two days later and asked if i was going to pay yet. The other company finally disclosed their name *** and said they would call back again and again until i take care of this. I told them not to call after seven pm MST becasue my son went to bed at that time. They have called me everyday after 8pm. How do I get them to stop. They claim the 7 yrs is from the time they bought the account which is wrong but how do I get them to stop??

I enrolled at an area college back in 2001 due to personal reasons I had to withdraw, they never put it through, but kept all the financial aid money. It is now on my credit report because the college never told them I left and like I said never returned the money I think I have finally gotten my perkins all set but I'm still trying to deal with my stafford loan. They took over $1000 from my taxes and 2 diffrent student loans show up on my credit report what is the best way to have this taken off my credit report and get back my money????? I do have a letter from the college stating I did in fact withdraw and it was never put through. Please help me with this one. I don't know what else to do I tried disputing it with the credit agencies because that's what the college told me to do but it came back "no change". I want to buy a house and this is hurting me along with some other little things that i'm taking care of.

I have lousy credit, from things when I was 18, I was offered a few credit cards and thought I could handle it well needless to say I'm in debt up to my ears but I haven't bothered to file bankruptcy, although I have considered it even the new laws don't effect me so I could still file. Do bills just go away and or "fall off" your record or will they haunt me until I take care of them or file bankruptcy?? Thanks for all your adivce.

reason why i'm asking is because my roommate was borrowing my car tonight and i gave him my debit card to put gas in while he was out and he brought back the credit card receipt (without the details on what was purchased) that showed the amount of 50 some odd dollars. i don't think my car can even take $50 worth of gas but he says that's all he bought with it, gas.

the receipt he brought me was just the total amount but no details on what was purchased. will my statement tell me? or does it just show the merchant and the amount? my car only takes like $30 of gas at the most. i don't care about the $20 but i do care if he is lying to me and if i can't trust him.

I have applied in Illinois for Medicaid disability benefits but have been denied assistance. I have an appeal set.. What do they want. I have provided them with everything they requested. What can I provide that will turn the decision in my favor? Crutches? Wheel chair? A note from my doctors? What can I provide to make these people see that my lights don't work anymore? There must be something that will change their mind. I have racked my brains, whats left, out. Any tricks I need to learn? Any hints?

Does anyone offer debt portfolio financing with no credit check? Or is there anyone out there who is interested in a debt collection partnership type arrangement? Also, is there anyone in need of the services of an experienced debt collector, former agency owner, to collect their receivables on a "No collect, No Charge basis?"

I have never lost a job in the 30+ years that I worked( Medical Transcriptionist), now I am there. Believe me I have sent resumes all over the place, but what I need to know is where can I turn for help when the creditor don't seem to understand that no job means no money. Debt managment cannot help because I have no job so therefore cannot set up a debt payment. I really don't want to declare bankrupcy because I feel if I can hold on a little longer a job will materialize. I always paid my bills and this is very difficult, the letters are threatening and one company will work with me but they want my bank route numbers ( I am not doing that, besides there is hardly any money in there). What can I do or what can be done?. I have always been a responsible individual but now I am under so much stress. If any body knows anything please let me know.
