I enrolled at an area college back in 2001 due to personal reasons I had to withdraw, they never put it through, but kept all the financial aid money. It is now on my credit report because the college never told them I left and like I said never returned the money I think I have finally gotten my perkins all set but I'm still trying to deal with my stafford loan. They took over $1000 from my taxes and 2 diffrent student loans show up on my credit report what is the best way to have this taken off my credit report and get back my money????? I do have a letter from the college stating I did in fact withdraw and it was never put through. Please help me with this one. I don't know what else to do I tried disputing it with the credit agencies because that's what the college told me to do but it came back "no change". I want to buy a house and this is hurting me along with some other little things that i'm taking care of.

Hii there.

what you need to do is get a letter fo rproof (if the one you have isnt working) and send it to each individual credit bureau..

The letter has to clearly state that you did in fact withdrawal and that you are NOT obligated to the loans being they were never used..

Send it to transunion, experian, and equifax...

It will take 30-45 days to process if you send it in... They will each then change your credit report accordingly..

You just need to to make sure the letter is clearly stating that you dont owe the money with no gray areas... If the letter is written correctly, there is no way that the bureau's can not change the report..

Good Luck!

I would send a copy of the letter to the student loan people and ask them for proof that you received money from them. You need to send it certified return receipt requested. Tell them that they have 30 days to provide proof of the debt or remove it from your credit report. If they fail to do that, then you can threaten them with litigation. If they don't follow through, then I would find an attorney and let them handle it. In fact, you may want to have an attorney to write a letter if you are not comfortable handling this matter yourself.

I would go up to the school and talk to the financial aid office first, just because they might have held your money for some reason and you might be able to get it. and I would send copies to all 3 credit bearues of your official withdrawl papers. so they know to. get a copy of all your credit reports and go to the federal loan website and it will tell you all the loans you have in your name and when you obtained them. Collect all your info. Study it and don't give up until someone gives up.
