FICO Credit score's range is from 300-850. And TransRisk score as calculated by TransUnion also has a range from 300-850.

What is the difference bewteen these 2 scores? Which one is more linear? Are they the same?

Thanks.

I have some debt, that I know I will never be able to pay off. Atleast in this century. It's not that I owe a whole lot of money, it's just that I am not the richest person on earth. I have a family and can't afford to make payments that will make a difference in the balances.

I have considered Bankruptcy. I know the laws for it have changed in the last few years. Does anyone have a good website about the terms and all that?

What you can and cannot claim on a bankruptcy and so on. thank you all.

I ran into some issues with money for a year. I sold my house and had some outstanding debt for my cable/phone/electricity companies. I didnt have enought funds to pay these off before they went to collections. Now they are on my report for about 300-450 dollars. How do I get them removed? Pay them off? I hear that they dont come off but then others say they do. Does paying them off raise my fico score?

I have a outstanding CC and I got a thing in the mail from Maryland and some law firm that says its an arbitration that says I have 30 days to respond or they will go to court without me. That they may put a judgement against me as a civial judgement. I don't work, I don't own anything. What does that mean?

I know that paying your credit card bills on time helps your credit score. Do other bills do that, like my apartment rent? I'm a full-time student, so I can't work right now, but I'd like to do what I can to start building good credit. Does anyone have some tips?
Also, is this true: I've heard that having a lot of credit cards you with low balances on them (i.e., you don't really use them) raises your credit score. I just have one card right now. Should I consider getting another one or two?
Thanks!

Over the past few days i have been having a lady from a lawfirm calling and leaving rude urgent messages for me to contact her. I got a hold of her today to find out that she is calling me about a bank i had two years ago, apparently i had two checks that bounced one for 3.00 and one for 2.50. Now the costs are up to 152.49and 154.43. I never received a bill or anything asking payment. Now i am going to have to pay lawyer fees and i just don't know what to do. Please help.

I have a debt that I have been disputing for about 2 years. Recently, I received a phone call from a new Collection Agency who has stated the account will be sent to arbitration before the beginning of the year if I do not pay $4000, which is close to the amount I actually owe. In the past they have been saying it was $8000.

I would like to pay that amount and solve this problem once and for all.....however, I am not able to do so in the 2 weeks they have given me.

Is there anything I can do to delay the process before it goes to arbitration?

It seems the owner of the debt keeps switching collection companies everytime I seek verification of the debt. The current company has only been managing this debt for less then a week. They claim they do not need to verify the debt.

What should I do?

I'm still pretty inexperienced with credit. I've only had one credit card (a Visa) for the past three years, and it has no annual fee. I just got a second (a MasterCard), and it has an annual fee of $79. Should I shop around for a different card sans the annual fee and nix the new one? Or will most cards charge an annual fee?

I got a phone call from my father. He said that he had my credit card and bill. I said, "huh???" Basically, what it boils down to is that the company changed my address to his, because they SAID that they got return mail with his address as the forwarding address. I called the USPS and they do not have any forwarding addresses for me. What I am concerned about is the disclosure of personal credit information to a third party without my consent. Or am I just being stupid?? I mean, what if my father was a dead beat and charged up my card??

The signer paid the full debt owed, and its suing in small claims court for the amount. Will the signer be able to collect on the debt, even though there is no documentation signed by the other person?
