"This account is scheduled to continue on record until February 2007", does that mean that in Feb. 07' this account and all references to it will be deleted from my credit reports due to the F.C.R.A. 7 year rule?

Closed the account 26 days after the initial deposit and 12 days after the checked bounced. Did not find out the checked bounced until 3 weeks after I had already closed the account. Now the banks wants the money back

My summons is not signed by the "clerk of the court" (i am in cook county, chicago area )- based on what i read on the affidavit, the collection agency "purchased the account from the original creditor". I do not know what this is for - since the court date is schedule for next week, am i supposed to contact the attorney or the company to see what and how they got my information. I never received any notices from this collection agency. I do admit that i do not have the best credit and am making minimum wage. There are accounts on my credit report that are from 2000 thru 2003 , but i have been trying to pay them off. Where can i turn to for help? I cannot afford to pay the $2425.95 + cost as liisted in the summons.

There are collection agencies contacting a relative of mine trying to reach me. I just wanted to know how they manage to find out who my relatives are? I have a very common last name, so could they possibly be calling everyone in my state with the same last name? Or do they actually have some type of proof that so and so is my relative? Thanks in advance!

I'm contemplating filing for bankruptcy. I live in a house that I do not own and I basically have nothing of great value in my name (no car, no house), and I'm currently unemployed. How do they determine what to take and how can they prove what belongs to the owner of the house (not me) and what belongs to me? Do they actually send someone to your house and check or evaluate? Because that would be more humiliation than I can handle as the people I live with are not aware of my debt. If I have an overseas bank account, could they go after that (can they even locate it in the first place)? Thanks for any help!

I have about $30,000 in unsecured debt that I accrued during college (credit cards, loans...). Now I'm working overseas and don't make nearly enough to pay minimum payments. So I've let everything slide for 6 months (not proud of it). Recently my relatives have been getting calls from collection agencies looking for me. I don't plan to return to the US for at least another 7 years, which is the time delinquencies are reported to the credit bureaus, so I'm not too concerned about my credit score. But I am concerned about my relatives being bothered by their attempts to locate me, since they don't know about my debt. What would happen if they decide to sue me? How likely is it that they'll sue me if I have no personal asset of any value, no employment (that they know of), and they can't find me? How would they serve me with the lawsuit? I don't wanna seem totally irresponsible, but I can't possibly repay the amount (even in monthly payments) in my current situation.

My dad passed away 6 months ago and he had previously taken out a loan/line of credit from MBNA. He was paying it back right up until his death but now MBNA wants my mom to pay it back. My dad had no estate and we dont have the money to pay it back for him.Can they hold my mom accountable for that? My mom never signed her name on anything to do with that and now they are saying that we have to find out a way to pay $8,000. They are even saying that we should either take out a loan, ask our friends to help or sell our house to pay it back. I'm scared that they'll take our house away and we aren't even done paying for it! The mortgage we have is from Bank of America and they have actually merged with MBNA. But the bank says they have nothing to do with MBNA. MBNA sent us letters from their lawyers saying that we need to pay them and so we are thinking about getting a lawyer too but can anyone out there help?

I recently lost my job and I have bills coming up but no money to pay them with. I have a car payment, insurence and 2 credit cards. What will happen when I don't make the payments? I have really good credit and I'm wondering how far it can go before my record will be scarred. Is there anything I can do to to postpone it till I get another job?

lock your money in for like 6 months or a year, so that you cant touch it until that time is up?
Not like 5 years either.
I have problems with spending when I want something, so I thought if they had accounts were I could pool up the money for a while that would be a good thing.
