If you charge too much on your debit card, does it work like a check, and the transaction is cancelled? Or do you end up with negative money in your account?

I have Capital One. Anyways..My limit is 750$, I only have 648$ to spend though. Say tomorrow I pay off that plus an extra 100. Do they allow you to do that? Making my limit 850$ then for that time..

I'm 21 with a few credit cards that total around $4,000.00. Most of them I used for things like wisdom teeth extraction, car repairs, etc. I have good credit, but am having a hard time trying to pay them off. I've been paying the minimum's on time, but am not getting anywhere. Has anyone ever had this problem and what should I do? Continue to pay the minimums? (I've already cut the cards up so I can't use them.) Or should I contact a credit consolidator? Does that look bad on my credit? Are they reputible? Please help!

I have united plus credit card. I once received an e-mail from united.com stating that if I refer other people to apply and get their visa credit card, I will get 1,000 credit to my account? I've called united and they gave a phone number that sounds like a fax, other assistant told me to log into www.mt friend.com and nothing..........

I had a loan with a loan-shark... My payment was due 5 days ago... I have been calling and leaving voice messages... no calls back, which I found weird becasue this guy was very sharp about payments on time. I put his name on yahoo search and it came back that he was killed late October and he was been investigated by the federals for threatening violence to collect a debt....

now what??

I recently checked my credit, and I had some deliquent medical bills. I am now paying 75 on a month on all the deliquent accounts. I have two questions.

1. Is it true that if I pay them, that it DOESN'T raise my score? My friends are telling me that it doesn't matter anymore, since they are deliquent anyways.

2. Are there any credit cards out that don't charge outrageous start-up fees or deposits? Even if the rate is super-high, and the limit is really low, I would be interested, I just don't want to pay hundreds in fees.

Thanks for your time.

I just found out that my husband has more debt than he actually claimed. I quite upset. He said he only had 12K, but actually has about 25K. This debt was incurred prior to us being married. If were we to split up, would I be liable for this?

I have credit card debts equal to 15% of the value of my 401k. I can take a loan from my 401k and pay it back over 5 years at 8.5%. Currently my credit cards have a rate 3-5 percentage points above that. I am 30 years old and contribute the max to my 401k. My feeling is that I might as well be paying the interest to myself instead of to the credit cards. Also I am 25-30 years away from retiring. I can use the money I save from paying my credit cards each month and start a Roth IRA and/or invest it in mutual funds and stocks as well as college plans for my daughter. I also have money in mutual funds that I could liquidate to pay my credit cards. What do you think is the best option? I figure I am young enough where this is a good option because I know you really are not supposed to use your 401k for loans

I have continued to lose my credit in order to help maintain my husband's. I have stuck to my guns in order to do whatever it takes to save my sister who has cancer, to help anyone or thing that needs some sort of comfort or assistance.....guess what....I'm now STUMPED at finding help for myself. Yes I've checked with every and any financial institution known to man....except for a good old fashioned loan shark. I need to breathe, I need to live again, there is no one I feel I can turn to at this point.
