I have bad credit, but got a refinance, and have paid off most of my credit cards, but have one that I still owe on. Because of a nasty divorice there were payments that were late. How long does it take to increase my credit so I can get credit again? I got the refinance because my boss has a friend at the bank. I have been on time for almost a year, have paid off two credit cards, paying off the third and make higher than the minimum payment. I also pay more on the mortgage payment than the minimum.

They told me out of the $3200 they say I owe with interest, that they would bring it down to 1600 if I pay in 24 hours, but the other option is to give them $2400 and they will clear it from my credit report where it won't effect my credit score so my credit score will go up to the pont like it wasnt ever there.
Can they actually do this? or is this a scam.

If I just pay the $1600 would it be the same with me contacting the credit bureaus myself?

Thanks!

my mom and dad are re-mortgaging their house. they told the bank all about their credit history, and they are ok with that. but they also told them that i live there, and my credit history sucks, because i've just gone through a divorce (my husband used to spend tons) and so i have judgements and things against me and my husband. will this affect my mom and dad's remortgage?? I hope not, it's got me really worried.

Okay, yeah, I tried search engines but got mostly spam sites. Woohoo.

So my credit card limit is pathetic enough that it won't cover the cost of my flight home in the middle of December to visit the parents for Christmas. So my mom said I could just use her credit card number. I found a great deal at the travel agent. So, um, how do I go about using my mom's credit card then if she lives a few hundred miles away from me?

As you can tell, I'm a student who has never used a credit card before.

If you dispute something on your credit report to try and get it removed (even if it is accurate), how long do creditors have to respond before it gets taken of of your report because they failed to respond to the dispute?

Im considering refinance possibilities.

Current:
$67,600
1st mortgage - 7% - very recent refi previously done due to layoff.

$15,000
Line of Credit (sorta a 2nd mortgage) - 9% - full

$9000
Credit card debt - mostly due to layoff going from making
$70,000 a year to $20,000 a year.
Various rates among 3 cards (all same bank).

Refinance reasons is obvious.
But ultimate reason is consolidate.

Recent attempts at getting estimates find most of the choices
are that a new primary might not be good enough to replace current (except on rate), but the costs are such to make it almost not doable.

On 2nd mortgage, seems that its not doable in that some rates are even above my current avg rate on my debt.

Suggestions?

Im leaning toward doing nothing except locking the lineofcredit into a shorterm fixed loan and using a future cashflow improvement to pay off debt (cashflow improvement is a investment that will actually pay the mortga

In 1995 purchased a GMC Jimmy from car lot in MI. Two weeks later vehicle was stolen from driveway. Insurance covered so much, but did not pay off loan. Now they insist I owe them $9000.00 Wich is hard for me to believe that I would have to pay for vehicle that I dont have. Anyways recently trying to buy a house, and had to pay off a few debts off credit report. Truck was on credit report, but said acct.closed. While paying other debts one company said they recently aqquired this debt, for the truck...I told them the acct. was closed per my credit report statement. they said that was'nt true. Now this has been 11 years ago since all this has started and I now live in AZ. Married with 2 kids and trying to buy my first home. Should this be off my Record by now? Or will I be haunted by this for the rest of my life? Any help appreciated...THX

Is the middle 600's on a credit score plus 2+ years at my current job good enough to get maybe a $2000 approval? Needing a laptop and a digital SLR to get started hardcore on my photography and graphic design. So I need financing.

I have had a few ppl in my life that took advantage of my credit and my money, when I was just out of High School. Now I have a child and a boyfriend. We are trying to get married in the next few years and buy a house, that we can call home. I checked my credit yesterday and I have about $16,000 in bad debt to pay for. I am not sure what are scams and where I should begin. I can only afford about $200 a month, maybe a little more at times, maybe a little less. Is bankrupcty that bad of an idea for me? And does it hurt you as bad as some ppl say? Is there any loan company that will give me a loan to pay it off and pay them monthly? This is so stressful, I am lost, I dont know where to go or where to begin. Most of my credit is medical bills....does that matter?
