I was looking through this site that tells what credit scores people had when they either got approved or denied for a cedit card. I notice some were saying they got originally approved for $5000, and was $10,000 at activation. Do that mean that after having the card for sometime the credit limit went up to $10,000 or once they activated the card they got a higher limit? What does it mean by activation?

It's so annoying!!! You buy something with a debit card and the money comes out of your checking account immediately, like before you even leave the store. But! When you return that item, it takes days and days to get the money back! It's SO unfair!!! Does anyone know why this happens or are you as annoyed as I am??

Made the mistake of applying for a couple of online cards - and got TONS of spam offering me Up Front fee cards, and cards with big deposit and big 'annual fee' (which must be paid up front).

Any LEGITIMATE 'non-New-York' type offers?

My only source of income is my Social Security Disability monthly check (which is not enough to qualify me for a visa cc through my bank, ironically).

Thanks for any genuine, helpful advice.

Hope I don't get links to more scams!

I have a Kohls credit card where 2 payments were made late last year. I have closed the card since. Now I am trying to buy a house and those late payments are bringing the credit score down. I have 5-7 days before I sign the contract. Any sure shot ways to make sure this is taken out of the credit history before I apply for the loan hence raising my credit score to a level where I can get a good rate. Right now the credit score is at 661 and the simulation shows that if i somehow get the kohls taken care off it will bump up by credit score by 70+ points. Any help would be really appreciated, but no offense I want to know tried, tested and fast way to get this done.
Cheers,

I am paying off my cards which are over 5 yrs old, and they're giving me settlement amnts to pay them off. Most of the balance is late fees, my credit is slowly going up. Am I going to have problems in the future getting credit if they ve seen that even though I paid all my debt, I chose to make a stlmnt amount to close it? Anyone in similar boat?

We made reservations at the Savannah Beach Inn on Tybee Island. 3 days later my mother-in-law went into the hospital. 3wks later she died. I called the Inn and tried to cancel the reservations, but the manager, Anastasia talked me into keeping them. Since we didn't realize just how bad our mother was, we did, but later canceled them a day late of their policy for cancellation. How do we get our money back? We never went and I wouldn't go there now if you pd me to. Thats awful to be so uncompassionate at such a hard time. Besides Anasatasia said they rented our room out anyway. So they got those people's money plus our's of over $1,200.00! I called our credit card company and informed them of the situation. Will this take care of the bill?

Recently they sent me an offer for a credit card. Here are portions of the letter that I have edited to keep this short.

Midland Credit Management, Inc. has made an arrangement with Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC, to provide you with the opportunity to receive a no annual fee unsecured credit card.

If you accept the offer , the remaining principle balance of your present debt will be transferrred to a new Embrace Visa account as the first transaction to your new account.

Once your remaining principle balance is transferred, we will no longer service your account. By accepting this offer you can stop further phone calls from us regarding your debt. If you do no accept the enclosed offer, then your present debt will remain open with us for collection of the full balance including accumulated interest and fees, if applicable.

Would you take this offer?

My ex used up all of his credit card worth 47K. I was an approved user of his accounts but never even swiped my card on a purchase. If he filed for bankrupcy, will my credit be fixed as well? I know we were both affected by the debts. My credit is messed up due to him.
