I had cancer in 2004, and due to the cost of treatment and my reduced ability to work, my credit took a real beating. I want to purchase a home, and am curious if the documentation of what happened will carry any weight in explaining why things are the way they are. I had good credit until that point, and have no new debt.

I have less than 15% equity in my home and need to consolidate some bills. My FICO is right at 530 and I have one late mortgage payment about 3 months ago. The amount I need is about 10% equity in my home, but can't find a lender willing to let me have the money with such a low score. At this point in time, the interest rate is not as important as getting some things paid before they begin to affect my credit even more. Anyone know of any companies out there that will go with a 100% equity loan with my bad credit score?

I was contacted via phone this evening from a lawyer regarding a credit card debt that I believed to have been paid off by my ex husband, whom I divorced in 2000. The woman would give me NO details other than to say it was in my name and told me I had to contact the bank I had the credit card with for answers. I requested a copy of my credit report and sure enough it was there, the account was opened in 1998 and then it shows it being charged off in 2002 yet tonight was the first time anyone has ever contacted me about it. I honestly cannot remember if I signed the credit application or not; my ex opened alot of accounts without my knowledge and I was listed as an authorized user but according to the credit report this account was joint. I just want proof that I signed a credit application; do I have the right to request such proof? I told the woman that called that I am disputing this matter; she aruged that the account is in my name but I know it isn't. What can I do?

I filed chapter 13 though one lawyer and now need to convert to chapter 7. My lawyer said he wanted 400.00 upfront which I don't have upfront right now but I contacted anothet one that said he could do it for 265.00 upfront, so can I have the new lawyer to convert it or do I have to use the same lawyer I used to file the chapter13 case?

have Googled, I have ASKed, I have called. I had no luck. I am looking for companies that offer loans to people (like me) with bad credit. Please do not send refferal service which charges fees and provides no loan results. I've already been scammed. I prefer direct lenders/companies. All feedback is appreciate it. Please do not answer the question, if you do not know the answer. Thank you!

My wife and I are expecting a child soon (that's the good news) and we need to get a vehicle with more than two doors! Due to a job loss and the following reduction in income our credit is seriously banged up (that's the bad news) Fortunately, we are back on our feet again but the past credit issues continue to haunt us.

I have done some research, but everything that I have come across seems pretty shady Are there any legitimte auto financing options available for us?

My mom has a past due credit card blance of $3,100 from one credit card. She got it right after my Dad passed away and for the first year she kept up with the payments but after that, the credit card company closed the account because they said her credit rating fell and they could not keep the account acitive. After that, her minium payments went up about $100 dollars per month. Now my mom is on disablility and drawing off my deceaseds father's social security so her total income a month is about $599. She does not have very much money left after paying for utilities, medicines, docotor's visits, food and basic stuff to survive. It has not been turned over to a collections agency yet but I'm sure it will be soon. We have not tried to negotiate with the credit card company because my mom just can't afford to pay what they want a month. Does she need to worry about paying this debt? What about garnished wages? She does not own a home or anything of value. Thank you!

The car I own now is being financed by my mother. I want to trade it in and get a new car. My question is, can I trade in this car and have them pay it off even though the new car I am purchasing will no longer be in her name? I want to put it in my name now.

OK - I have a bill for a broken apartment lease that I was trying to fight (for a variety of good reasons) - and now it has gone to a collection agency for a total of $898.00. This item is already showing up on my Experian and TransUnion credit reports as unpaid and transferred to a collection agency. (I have 42 accounts in good standing and this 1 as "potentially negative" - ha!) Anyhow - my dilemma is: My FICO went down from a good 740 ish to a not-good 638 from apparently this siutation alone ... if I pay the bill now, will it even remedy the FICO score - or does simply having this on my record at all make it a moot point? I had good reason to fight this, but now I'm stuck. I'll pay the $898 if it will improve my credit rating, but why bother if it won't? I appreciate any realistic, practical advice any of you may have. Thanks!
