I have about 4600 on my credit card and due to financial difficulties and a history of late payment they now want the entire balance. I wasn't able to pay them for about five months.I haven't had the guts to call them to see if I can still work out a payment plan. What can I do? Obviously I don't have 4600 to pay them on hand.

Can I get another credit card with another company, pay off the balance and start paying down the debt that way without angry citibank bugging me? I can now afford monthly payments to an extent (nothing outrageous but enough to pay down the debt) but given my history I don't think CitiBank will let me do it now.

I know the payment gap will show on my credit report but will it stop me from getting another card just to appease citibank. I know the interest rate will be ridiculous but the company won't be so anal about really high payments due.

Any suggestions? And no lectures on the evils of credit cards. I've learned my lesson. Still have to pay

My credit report is horrible. However, I have paid off many outstanding debts. How long does it take for my credit score to start improving? Give me advice to fix my credit report/score? Thanks.

Can anyone explain to me how the bankruptcy law works in the USA. what does it really entail and how long after that can you be credti worthy again? IS this a good idea or its just an easy way out with hidden, much more serious connotations?

My husband left me with huge debts. I left him after he had an affair & he was mentally abusive too.... He is getting the marital home reposessed & he is going bankrupt. I dont think I have a choice to do the same now but I mailny got so much debt to keep the house going (mortgage, bills, food).. He just used to spend all his money & hide things like i-pods & phones & x-boxes & gifts for his girlfriend.... Is there anything I can do to protect myself from bankrupcy because he is to blame for my situation? I am very ill & unable to work & will soon need to claim benefit....Yuck!!

i think someone stole her ID in the pass, and now some collection agency picked up the contract. My daughter had a job where she was making over 60k a year. she just had twin girls last month.she lives in carrollton/dallas tx area. the house they live in cost 480k, just got a brand new LEXUS, and he has a porsche 911
she is not the kind of person who would just run up a $3500 bill plus interest and forget about it. i haven't told my daughter about it
to this point as i just got some of the information myself. these people call me around 7:10am,noon, 4:30pm,and around 8:45pm.
they call weekends also. i told them that my daughter did not live here and they don't care. they said my phone # was what they had for a contact. i don't believe that as you can go on the internet and find a persons phone #. I just want them to stop calling my wife and me all the time. i will inform my daughter also.

I have delinquent credit from about 4 years ago that i havent touched....Its way delinquent. If I track down the creditors and pay it off how much will it help my credit...Currently I have a 608 credit score. I know its bad. The only negatives on my credit are my five or so accounts that add up to $6000. I was 18 and got in over my head. I have come into a little money and now I would like to pay them in full but before I do so I want to know that this will help my credit overall or if it wont have much of a difference.
