First and foremost, it'll cost them too much time and money to take you court. Now the main thing to do is never ever ever promise to pay. There's statutes of limitations on how long a creditor can attempt to collect a debt. In some states it may be 5 yrs or 7 yrs depending on where you live. That's a worse case scenario !
Now if you would like to try to pay the debt off, call the creditor and try to negotiate a lower interest rate.

You need to check your state statutes.
I'm including a link to the Michigan Legislature that has some statutes in it.
I haven't done a full search under Michigan statutes, but this may get you started.

If they garnish your wages they can take 65 to 70% of what you make. If you offer to make payments without going to court you could get by with paying anywhere from $25.00 to 50.00 per pay. Some will even set it up as a once a month payment.

It can be as low as 10 dollars, i live in mich.I dont think they can garnish your wages.
