I had the same problem and found that if you apply for a card make sure it fits within your credit score. If you have a horrible credit score or bankruptcy then you should choose a orchard secured card or prepaid card until you build up your credit enough to get a regular credit card. Email Tracy over at www.banklady.com and tell her what card companies you have tried -- took her a week to get back to me but it was worth it.

Get somebody that can add you to their existing credit card or apply for one joined with somebody that has good credit. You can cancel it after a while. Let's say 6 months. This way you'll be able to be approved for credit further on. Also make sure to pay your bill on time because this is the way you build up your credit.
God luck!

Try getting a card with your bank. if you have a Citibank or commerce bank acct. apply in person for a card. If you are a student apply for a college card. Citibank offers them I know. or just Give up, the more you apply and the more you are denied the worse your credit looks. So be careful.

Bank of Hoven offers secured credit cards. A secured credit card means that you deposit money into an account and your card is good for that amount. You get bills just like an unsecured card and it shows up on your credit just like an unsecured card, but anyone can get one and in this way you can build credit.

if you are a student, try getting a student card through your bank. for example, wells fargo has a student visa, with a low credit limit to begin with and a good interest rate. just try to always pay the full balance every month, it really helps you manage your money and looks good on your credit

get a sears card. they hand them out like govt cheese. you should find some use for it and a couple of months with that will help build your credit up enough to where you can apply for a real credit card and then ditch the sears card.

try getting a secured card. this is a card where you put up money, and they give you credit based on what you put up. once you have established that you can charge and pay you will get other offers.
