Basically i am a stay at home mom, i usually do some odd computer jobs now and then.
Recently i got an offer for full time, but the job concerns a project that i have always hated.
Meaning, i have worked on this project before - but have always delayed and hated it.
To add to this i am not very efficient with it.
The only thing that makes me take up this work is - what will i do if i start working full time (may be some other job) and i am suubjected to similar kind of problem. I cannot always run away from problems.
What do you think i should do? I should take up the job or decline it.

I have been at my job for 5 months and have been told i am doing superbly and have been given accounts to handle earlier than expected. So, its pay review time, but nothing has been said to me about an appraisel or haveing a pay reveiw.

Looking at my contract, it states:
"The company reviews salaries annually every May, however, if you join the compnay between the start on the company's financial year (Jan 1st) and May, you do not qualify for review."

Now, I started 4th Dec 06 - should I ask if I qualify??

What are you experiences ? What are your options ? What career did you change to ? Why did you change ? Engineering is not that good in North America right now -- what other careers is an engineering education good for ?

Everyone, including the past "big boss" is telling me, "You can do it." However nice these words of encouragement might be, this job is not something I feel I have the knowledge to do. I have big reservations on whether or not I can pull this off. I am not a very good bulls***ter which appears to be pretty important. Of course delegation of duties is an option, but I can't just sit in this big leather chair and fart all day. I have to make this happen as I am responsible for a number of folks who are line staff here. That worries me because their jobs are on the line if I don't do mine well. Should I just throw in the towel and start pushing a broom at McDonald's? Maybe it's just that I haven't been part of the work world for very long and I have gone to the top of my field in a very short amount of time. I'm a hard worker, but so are all the people who work on the conveyor belts at Bird's Eye picking out rotten peas before they are packaged for our consumption. Damn.

My boyfriend is a Vet Tech at a local animal hospital and he is paying restitution of 27k to somebody that was injured in an automobile accident 6 years ago. He is also in school to become a registered nurse. He owes 27K and he hasn't been able to come up with the payments so they put him in jail and unless we come up with the 27K he will have to sit in jail for 2 years and then come out with a judgement on his name. My QUESTION is not, should I leave the man I love, the QUESTION is how would I go about getting a loan for at least 20K with poor credit?

I am working at a contract position and I keep asking for work and they give me a little every now and then. I have repeatedly sent them e-mails and then I get busy for a short while and then I am not busy for some time.

How should I occupy my time besides going on Yahoo Answers? I am an Accountant and pretty much confined to my desk.

Its funny because the company just announced that they are moving their headquarters at the end of September and they want me to stay until then. I wonder why? I am not that busy....

My husband had a job at Walmart, and quit. Thinking he was getting a better paying job. But soon found out that was far from the truth. First he found out that it was a through a temporary service who does thorough criminal background check-before anyone goes there and says if he doesn't have anything to hide what's the problem? Unfortunately they go back 7 years and on the applications that u fill out they tell u to answer the questions truthfully other wise ur subject to firing. Yea, I understand that but its not like he's been in prison u mite of been arrested for traffic violations, but we're finding out if u tell the whole truth and nutin but the whole truth ur not going to have the advantage of being the one who is going to get hired. Now what?

Recently, I turned down a job offer that meant more money (25-30%) and a promotion. I turned it down partly because it sounded like more hours (I have small kids) and I already have a good job. I understand all this, however, it is eating me inside and am regretting it. The company has moved on and hired someone else. I feel like I may not get another such opportunity. How do you get over something like this?

This has been happening a lot recently. I'll go in for an interview, which, in my opinion, goes great. I answer the questions promptly and confidently, I do the follow up e-mails afterwards expressing my excitement at the opportunity, etc. And then... nothing. I'll never hear from them again, and I'll even send another e-mail asking for some closure, as in, just tell me I wasn't accepted, it's fine, I know how the employment process works. But, like I said, I'll never hear from them again. What's up with that? Personally, after an interview, I think I deserve at least a response, even a one-liner e-mail would work. Does this happen to anybody else? I really want to e-mail these employers back telling them how rude it is to just drop me off the face of the earth after an interview. All I want is closure!! Any ideas, suggestions, or reasons why they're doing this??

I am a senior member of staff.

I am in charge when the director leaves for the day.

There is a girl int he office who seems to think that the rules do not apply to her.

She was on the phone to one of her 'associates' talking about when they are next going to perform on stage.. singing or gangsta rapping or whatever they do!

I sent her a discrete email telling her to terminate the call as it is not work related and it certainly was not an emergency.

She said that she was offended! I told her it is the rules, I am going to speak to the manager later and advise him to get rid of her, she seems to think the rules do not apply to her.

She has only been her 3 weeks.

Unemployment denied my last claim then sent me a letter saying "You may have been seperated for misconduct in connection with your work." They are calling me later today to discuss it!!!! The reason i was fired was because i slacked off for a few months after working 5 years. Do you think this constitutes misconduct and do you think they are going to stop my unemployment benifits? Any suggestions?
