I'm a former Paramedic, my certification expired in 1997. Does anyone know of a company, state or federal agency that will pay for me to go back to school to get updated and certified again? I am willing to sign a contract for employment and willing to relocate. I hope a single dad of two stands a chance. I would truly appreciate any knowledgeable and researched advice that could head me in the right direction, thanks in advance!

I am currently working for a sm. company with only 50 employess. The company is only 7 yrs.old. One of first employees hired and been with company for 4 years.
Pros: Small company, great co workers, very laid back atmosphere, routine work assignment each day. As long as my work is done, no boss over shoulder. Recieves a $1500 christmas bonus, and monthly incentatives approx. $150, but not guaranteed.
Cons: Under paid. Pay $11 a hour, compared to market value of pay in zip code, should be approx. $14-$17 hourly. Started with company when they were just starting out, and I took low pay because of it being a new company. Was told that as company progressed, pay would meet current market. 4 years later and still under... discussed with owner, states no problem with my work, but company can't raise pay, only 3% pay raise each year.
I am financially comfortable and don't have to have a higher paying job. But...I feel with my work history and experience that I should be paid better.

I lost my job in December 2006 and I am having the hardest time finding a new job in my field and even outside of my field. I was an escrow assistant for a title company and have a real estate sales background. I have even tried jobs for much less pay in the clerical field and noone is calling. I've been all over the internet, to recruiting agencies and even picked up the phone and called title companies. Help, if you can.

What had happened is that I work with a guy, that is also a real estate agent. In the process of making, fullfilling, and purchasing a home, after this whole process I have found out threw a phone call that the agent had disclosed personal information about our deal. The reason I know, is because only him and I know about certain specifics that would have to have been leaked by either him or I. Now it could cause a problem at work.... i.e. embarrasement or other financial information not needed to be known at work.

Ok, I need to make and save money. I'm currently at university completing my undergraduate degree (I'm just about to complete 3rd year and go into honours in Sept for my 4th year). I know what I want to do with my life and the Masters courses I wish to take. If I'm not able to receive funding for them, they can cost between 3-5 grand. I want to save this just in case I don't get funding - also don't want to get into debt! lol So, I need a job for the summer. I thought about lying and taking a full time, permanent job then quitting when I went back to uni in Sept, but would feel bad doing that. I don't know what else I can do. I also have other bills to pay (as we all do), which does hinder me a bit. Could work in London or Spain as have family there, but it's a bit difficult. Need a good well paid job for the summer. Anyone have any ideas?

The average working week I believe starts on Monday, finishes Friday, which is five days over seven, two days off at the weekend.

A job that is specifically advertised as 5 days over 7 to me hints that Monday might not actually be the start of the week for that particular job, is this true?

I only ask because I harbour dreams of joining the Territorial Army (Reserve/weekends) and I don’t want to work weekends for those reasons, apart from that I’d have no problem.

If the industry makes any difference, it is the food industry working as cook in basically a children’s play centre/party centre. Which I'd have no problem working odd weekends, just not every weekend.

Let's use this example - 30k annual salary

Would you do:

1) 30,000 / 2080 = 14.22

14.22 x 160 (for four 40hr work weeks per month) = $2307.69 per month gross income

OR

2) 30,000 / 12 = $2500 per month gross income

The reason I asked is because in my current job, the math works out like in option #1. I get paid bi-weekly and calculated using the gross income value.

But in my new job, the offer letter states my annual and monthly income in which the monthly income math works out like option #2.

What's the reason for doing it one way or another? Which method is correct?

I start work at 7am and work through till 1pm. Then off for the afternoon and return at 5pm - 7pm. Every day. Saturdays I work from 7am till 2 pm, and Sundays are off. Am I working too many hours here?? I am not allowed to take a day off in the week for any reason, as if I do, it has to be worked in... like when??? They won't take it as unpaid leave or deduct from my annual leave. My job discription is Multi-Talented, as I run the house, am a live in Intensive Care trained nurse, (I look after an elderly couple who are also celebrities) a trained beautician ,who also does her face every day, and chef at night between 5 pm and 7pm. I am also their personal taxi driver sometimes. I really need to look for another job, but it is difficult, as I live in, so it will mean another job and accomodation. Any advice out there for me?? Or can you offer me a job... cv on request lol.

My job is ridiculous. I have been here over 2 years and it just gets worse. The owner is so optimistic he's unrealistic. I get 20-30 calls a day from suppliers looking for money. Our sales are down, the bank won't give us a loan because we've taken out too many loans, yet the owner tells me it will be better in 4 weeks. Which is what he tells me every month.

I have been applying for jobs left and right. I'm either overqualified for the positions I apply for or local companies cannot afford me. I can't take a cut in pay due to financial obligations but I am at my wits end. I swear my Zoloft is not helping and I'm stressed out to the max. Its affecting my job as well as my personal life.

Do you have any advise?

UK advice preferably:

I'm going for a job and need to read up on accounting, namely financial reconciliation and audit requirements. Can anyone give me a link to a relevant page? Can you explain the basics of FR and AR off the top of your head?

I also need to learn about any major integrated accounting package. Does Excel qualify as an integrated accounting package? Can anyone provide me with a link to a website that explains how one works in depth, and perhaps lets you use it?
