Just an idea, maybe look in to GIS. You'll have to research what degrees might be best for it. I know it involves some computer knowledge and practical training on that aspect but I know a few people in this general field who do get to travel and their geographical knowledge is unique and respected.

Sounds like you have a Directory Ebook in you. People pay good money for geographical information and statistics....A "Directory" does not have to be a long book just some good information people could even look up themselves but would pay for the convienence to have it right now! Go For It! For example you dont have to be an expert or rich person but what if you put together some facts about the experts or rich guys.or even an interview with them....bet someone would buy it.
