I have been temping for months and I am sick of it. The temp agencies are not interested in getting me anything permanent but I can not afford to not deal with them anymore. I have been looking on my own for several months as well. I am not sure what to do. I am waiting on answers from two companies and it has been a week and I have not heard anything I am just wondering what else I could do.
Thanks!

I'm retired, just trying to find something to keep me busy, and earn a little money in the process. Thanks, for any info you can send my way. Hopefully this helps someone else also.

Should I keep a job in which I am soooooo incredibly bored and do absolutely nothing or should I stick with it and bare the long day? It pays minimum wage. I really hate just sitting there all day doing nothing and being soooo bored. And I want to find a new job, but it's difficult. Should I quit anyway?

I posted something earlier today about being discriminated against in my workplace in many ways and most people said "walk out" well that is not an option for me... I need the money, insurance, and the reference. I am planning on quitting after I get my maternity leave pay and finding a new job, but for right now this is unbearable!! All I do is cry at my desk day after day. These people are just unreasonable and crazy! My mother actualy works here in HR and doesn't agree with anything these people are doing to me, but can't speak her mind because I am her daughter. I am going to see a therapist about this. I want to be told to leave work and go on short tem disability. How can I convince her that I need to, and what would you all do in my situation? I just want out... I don't deserve to be told that my hair is this my clothes are that and that I can't put up my 3d ultrasound picture because it looks gothic... its just not fair to me.

My boyfriend just recently moved to Florida from New Jersey. He is trying to get a job, but he is having a hard time doing it because he has a pretty bad record. He has been in jail several times and did time in prison. He is now trying to straighten out his life and make something of himself, as he is only 28. He is reformed.
Is it really legal for a business to deny him an oppertunity because he has this record? If so, why?

How do you get a job on wall street? At a place such as the NYSE... What do you have to go to college for? Finance? Econ? Accounting? Also, do you have to go to a prestigious school like Wharton or what?

I have a friend that I work with, male in his 40's, who is trying to decide whether he should change jobs or not. He has been here for over 20 years. I have been here for 11 and from the day that I started I have heard the rumors that the plant would not be open in 5 years. I guess everyone fears their place of employment shutting down. Anyhow, he wants to be a state trooper but can't decide if he should or not. Any advice for him would be greatly appreciated.

I have worked temp jobs from the year 2000 to currently. And I am having a very hard time finding something I really like which is office work. Temp agency will not find me work where I can use my computer skills, they always put me in the customer service jobs. And permanent employers act like they dont want to hire me because of no stable work history. What can I do? I've tried everthing. From using famous coverletter and making my resume look professional. The Business School I went to helped me with the coverletters and resume set up. Now what can I do to find my Ideal job in life? I need some good advice on what to do next.

I seen you the other day and you sure have gotten bloated like a big fat titanic. I don't mean no disrespect but you were married to me once, and yeh, you know who you are, and you and I had to get divorced because you became a horrific couch potato, you know you weren't like that when I first married you, but then, after I said I do, you were eating like there was no tomorrow and to think, you were such a slim damsel in distress, I was your knight in shining armor, and I rescued you to become my wife, and, for what? For the life of me, I guess it was to give you a place to feed that food addiction you secretly kept to yourself till we met and got married. so, now I cry and wonder, how could I let something of this magnitude occur, Oh boo hooo hoo.

I recently overheard a conversation that my boss I believe was having about me on the phone. I am not sure if he knew where I was or not. Talked about salary, resume on the internet. Lack of a girlfriend in fairly suburan area. All was aware of dark horse of myself arriving late to class after having a one night stand right before a test. Each traine costs 100k for a year in expense to be trained. Major metroplitian area filled with young singles is 30 mintues away. I applied for a transfer with the job 6 months into it. I am in training program the company has office in the major city but I am in their suburan office. Since I have applied for the transfer things have steadily gone down hill. I have been continutally micromanaged and belideled. Cited negatively in performance reviews, issues have been fixed. An heard the boss said he things I will quit since i wont be transfered. If I hang it out will I ever get transfer? Will they fire me first or get me to quit.

Basically, if I was offered a job tomorrow, but wanted time to think about it, would the employer have the right to retract the offer if I was to not hand in my notice at my current job until I returned from a two week holiday. Do they have the right to insist I make a decision one day after the offer, and hand in my notice immediately?
